Default RSX-S 6th Gear

I was just curious about the RPM's in 6th gear on the RSX-S. I do a lot of highway driving on my 98 GS-R...the RPM's are around 3,000 at 60 MPH and 4,000 at 80MPH. What are the RPM/MPH stats like for the RSX-S? Thanks.

3400 is 75mph...80mph is like 3600rpm.

Hmm.

I don't think a 6-speed transmission is worth the extra weight it brings to the table. Perhaps I would change my mind if I lived somewhere where I could reasonably (read: legally) travel at 100 or so on extended highway travels.

Probably an unpopular opinion, however the higher revs incurred with having one fewer ratio does not bother me, especially considering that my engine is in a particularly efficient range at around 80mph.

not really, i just hate cruising at 80MPH at 4000 RPM, the sound is loud and my milage goes down, and seeing as i do this almost every day as commute, i'd rather have a 6th gear than 30 more BHP. :shrugs:

keep in mind that despite the extra gear the RSX is still lighter than a GSR.

'95 GS-Rs weigh in around 2667 (http://www.rsbauer.com/gsr/gsr.php) and the RSX-S is 2767 (http://www.acura.com/model_RSX/rsx_spec_results.asp)

I can see having a 6th gear being handy. I find my GS-R does great on gas mileage when running fast on the freeway. Its the stop lights that seem to kill it here (stop lights here are way too long - a 6th gear won't help much).
