i just put a itr motor (b18c5) in my 99 ek and i dont know which computer to get for it.. right now im just using my old obd1 ls ecu because thats what engine i had in it b4. it runs good and everything but i just dont have vtec and it can only rev to like 7200 which sucks especially without vtec, so i was wonder which ecu would b better to run my motor properly.

the itr is obdII(p73) i cant use that in a civic because the civic is a obdI

 

Buy P28 (or P30 or P72 which ever you can get cheaper), chip it and have it tuned.
the tuning is the important part. no basemap is going to be close enough to run for a long time.
No stock ECU is going to be close enough either.

 

Learn new **** everyday . If you really wants a true ITR ecu. You can also chip a p28 with a true itr map until you get a real full tune on a dyno.

A p72 will be your best bet if you cant get a chipped ecu.

there is no such thing as an OBD1 P73. It was never made. Hence why there are no true P73 OBD1 maps. There are guesses and tunes from ITR swaps, but none of them are OEM quality. At least any of them that I've tried, they all tend to have detination under heavy load and low RPM.


OP, you have a 99 civic, it's OBD2b from the start, why not pick up an OBD2 P73 and do it right?

 

It's best to run the ITR ecu. You can do this via jumper harness (OBD2b to OBD2a) if you go with a JDM ITR ecu or a US 96-98 ecu.

Just a warning if you wind up using a 00-01 US ITR you'll need ot have the immobilizer removed and the fuel pump pinout swapped, but the ecu will plug directly into your 99 EK harness...

Currently I have a 93 civic hatch with a JDM Type R B18C in it and i use a P72 until i fried the computer LOL no clue how i did it, but it throws a code 22 and i put my friends computer in it and no codes are throw. anyways, back on topic, P72 if you can't get one chipped.

 

I have an OBD1 P72 if you're interested....I can leave it stock or reprogram it. Hit me up if you're interested.

obd2a p73 with obd2b to obd2a adapter harness from Rywire.com. There was a p73 on vadriven.com for $75 but i dont know if it was sold or not.

Where did you get this false information from? Your car is OBD-2b. Its NOT OBD-1.
