Looking to buy a prelude... dont know much about them... a little help please
Hi, well im in the market for a prelude i had a 92 SI for about 2 weeks a few years ago (bought it to re-sell it for profit) but now i want a change from my DA.
I am looking at getting one that is NOT from the mid-west (to much rust) so this mean i would be flying some where to pick it up. i found one in New York but am wondering what kind of questions i should be asking, seeing that if I fly out there I would be probably be buying it.
I know the basics about preludes but that’s about it. the one i have been looking at is actually on here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1896551
any help would be useful. Thanks guys!

any car that you get from Wisconsin or Minnesota is a pile of rust. New York isn't that bad compared to here... if you guys know of any other preludes from down south that I have missed let me know.. I could do finders fee.. if you live close to where it is I wouldn't have a problem paying you to go check it out for me either.
BTW.. i have been looking at gettin an SH, but i heard that id you want to drag a prelude your better off getting a base model... opinions??

If you want to Heavily modify a Prelude, then the SH isn't for you... The ATTS system can only handle so much power and then is useless. Most that I've read say around ~250hp, but I can't be sure. Not to mention getting parts that are SH specific is hard sometimes.

Hey Holly. I came across this thread and thought I would help you out. Generally, I would avoid the SH. I'm just not a huge fan of ATTS, especially if you are going to mod the car at all. It limits you in some ways, and parts availability is more of an issue. The links provided a couple posts up are very good.
I know silvercivicgrl is looking to sell her lude, but she has been having mechanical problems with it recently.
If you have any other Prelude questions feel free to ask a friend of mine. His username is Hardt, and he knows a lot about ludes and the H series motor. So feel free to hit him up:

don't know if anyone has looked at that thread, but i would probably steer clear of that lude
he claims that it's not his daily driver
yet he has steelies for a winter set of wheels.....why drive it in the snow?
he also has some pretty decent size scratches in the paint some of which look like cracking from a minor bump into something
it's a complete type s swap.....he says with everything from motor-tranny-intake-exhaust
then he goes on to say he has ebay intake and dc header
not really my choice for exterior parts (cf hood - cf lip - wheels - on silver lude)
but that is really personal preference
price seems to high with the damage and i would worry about the conditions in which it's been driven even though he says it's not a daily driver

He smacked something... look directly below the damage on the bumper to the lip, looks like a good sized chuck is gone, looks like white fiberglass showing through. It would be a shame to fly out there just to find somethings you don't like, and then buy it out of guilt for making the trip.

How much are you willing to spend? I'm not trying to sell my car but if the offer is to good to turn down it yours. I am a LOCAL also.

NY has just as much snow as parts of the midwest, what I would be worried about is how often the owner washed and maintained the car.

Hahaha your smoking crack. We are just as bad as the midwest for snow, and we happen to have some of the largest salt mines around.....therefore we drop salt like its free.
Quick pic from a ncie storm we had.

Yup.
Based on 1961-1990 National Weather Service records, Rochester, New York, is the snowiest large city in the United States (population greater than 200,000) averaging 94 inches of snowfall annually. Buffalo, New York, is a very close second.

I'm still living under 2 feet of snow up here at Albany myself. Out in Geneseo they got something like 5 feet or some crazy number like that.
What is this, the weather channel, or her post?
Check out that local car.
Don't buy a car that long distance, it just spells trouble (Unless it's from Cali
). As these people pointed out, there is just as much snow and salt in N.Y, and that long distance buy just leaves you open for a scam, or a car that you'll regret spending thousands of hard earned dollars on. JMO though.
