Default 16X7, 40mm offset. 205/50/16 or 225/45/16?

I am purchasing some tires for my new rims and I want to avoid rubbing. I am lowered at a 1finger gap at rear and no finger gap in front. I checked the tire size calculator and I have these two choices to keep the gearing cloest to stock.

cliff notes: Which tire would be best 205/50 or 225/45?
will either rub?
I think the 225/45 would have a better handling what do yall think?

i had the 225-45's on my 4th gen and with every bump or full turn the tires rubbed so went back to the 205-50's

i dont think tire companies recommend putting 225's on 7" rims, i think the minimum is supposed to be like 7.5".

from what i found on the spec sheets. Most say 7-8 inch but 7.5 is ideal which is why im gunna run that size. I was gunna get the 205/50's when i was in the market for x7's

215/45/16's is the size you'd want...tire companies that make this size are hankook rs-2, falken rt-615, and dunlop direzza...might be a couple more but i forget....but they do cost abit more than other sizes u mentioned...

see I want to get bf goodrich gforce sports. a damn good tire at a damn good price. I really thing 205/50 will be fine. With the koni/gc suspension it should handle great. I can always switch to 225/45 later if I don't like it.

if you truly want to run 225's, id get some 225/40's, as a 45 series will really throw off ur speedo....

nope, not true. as the op already stated, according to the tire calculator, 225/45 is actually as close as you can get to 205/50 diameter wise.

i agree. a lot of people say its not all dependent on the tire size, the quality of the tire is much more important.

hasn't this been discussed many times?

i've been running 225/45/16 for like 3 years now!

first were 2 sets of es100s, now i have fk452s

both great all around town tires / sizes. you won't rub unless you are one of those super cool low riders

this is on a 16x7 40 mm rota c8. gc/konis. you'll be fine

when it comes down to it.....sure.

lowering your car harms the suspension travel, compression/rebound more than you think. also gives you more of a chance to bottom out.

if you think i am going to bottom out these konis.......you've got another thing coming.
