questions about a valve job
Ok so Iv been researching getting my head reconditioned (cleaned, valve job etc.) I have searched a bit and cant find the exact answers Im looking for. I have the full gasket kit for my B16 head, my questions are:
1. Do I have to replace the valves, retainers, springs, guides or any other metal part in the valvetrain assy or does the machine shop just clean and reuse the old parts?
2. What is a good proce for a head being reconditioned
I know I could have put this in numerous other forums, but everyone here for the most part wither knows there sh*t or is knows something about b16s Thanks

pricing really depends on the machine shop, valve guides replacment usually requres a bit of work. Most of the time they try to steer you towards a knurll job where they raise the metal inside the valve guide and re-ream it (don not do this).

</TD></TR></TABLE> you don't have to replace them unless thier damged or in the case of a bent valve and it will not clean up. If you have an older b16, a valve train upgrade is probably a good idea. I paid $180 to resurface my head and reseat/re-grind my valves when my t-belt broke.
