Does anyone know if the obx intake manifold is worth a shit.
I have a 1991 crx and I am doing small mods and wondering if the obx is worth buying. It looks really good but does it make any difference in performance.

First do you have mpfi setup?
Honestly not really... a y8 IM if you are mpfi is cheaper and probbly better for you.

MPFI stands for Multi Port Fuel Injection, stock it came on the SI and HF only.
It can be *and is a great mod* for DPI, Dual point Injected cars *CX/STD DX*.
What trim do you have and is it stock?

It is stock except for a 421 dc header and cool air intake. It is a 1991 si. Will the OBX intake manifold make a difference and is their any other mods I need to go with this intake.

For you then you have MPFI, thats a good thing.
Honestly a throttle body done by maxbore or evena DIY if you are handy with tools and a y8 will make you happy for less and do better.
the y8 I speak of is from a 96-00 ex trim civic its nick named the ITR mani of Ds.
it's a great part I used it when I had a D.

So a y8 is the technical term for a intake manifold of a 96-oo civic and were can I get a maxbore throttle body. Your telling I could just pull a y8 of a civic in the junkyard huh.

We all speak in Honda code here
the motor in the 96-00 ex was the d16y8 that was its code. We just say y8 because we are geeks
You can get that mani off ebay the market place or junkyard... I paid 40 for mine from a buddy. That was back in the day and a hook up.
As far as the manifold swap use this link

Maxbore is a sponser on this site and if you use the member list or search you can find him and info you'll need.

Speak for yourself Maxo.
Anyway, he's right, the Y8 mani is considered the "Type-R" mani of the d-series. but there are probably easier ways to increase your power at this point.

Those OBX mani are junk man. I did a mini-me for a guy and he got himself one since he couldn't find an stock mani and that thing is the biggest PITA I ever saw. You can't get to half the bolts that hold it to the head and it is cast so that the bolts have to be trimmed to fit up against the manifold. It is a cheap POS in my opinion. BBK SSI manifolds FTW!
