Default Anyone ever make one of these

im thinkink about making one for my crx. i have brand new hasport mounts, but the engine still has too much movement. I am wondering on what kind of results i will see from this? also if i should use an adjustable solid rod, or a damper.

or thinking about using a damper like this.

something's got to be wrong with your mount brackets, t-mount, or something.....

what kind of movement?

they are brand new, buts the softer version, not the solid ones. but since its a b16 with only 3 engine mounts there is still movement i would like to get rid of. Anyone have experience with HCP front engine mount? i been reading about using it with hasport mounts

no experience with the front mount, and i apologize if i'm beating a dead horse, but maybe you just need the stiffer inserts....

not that the engine damper isn't pimp

ive done that on my saleen. it stoped me from breaking the drivers mount when i hooked from a spin into third.

And in my crx b swap in my del sol with hasport mounts it had too much movement for my taste. and i thought about doing the same thing. Then again with the crx i have now I got some avid mounts that just move too much. The polly is getting worn out I was going to build one of those as soon as it warmed up this spring. but now plans changed since i bought a hydraulic trans and have to get new mounts anyways.. IF i remember right Ingles Alignment Products makes one of those thats dampened that hooks to the top of the drivers mount and hooks to the body somewhere. i thought to myself :why not just use a gm dogbone style mount to do it like the picture you posted. the gm mounts are like 8 dollars at autozone. I like the rear mountain bike spring setup idea but arent they only used for controlling downward movement?

thanks for the reply. to my understanding that bike shock does not have compression/rebound like a normal shock. it is just a stiffer spring which should work well with stiff mounts ,as splittime explained to me
anyone else?

what front crossmember do you have?

this might be a great way to help with in cabin vibration as well...

post what engine and front cross you are using if you go ahead with this idea, im sure a lot of people would be curious about it.

my roomate is a bike tech and he says that if you mounted that on the front when the engine moved forward it would cushion it but as it rebounded it would push back to the other direction and when the engine moved the other way it would do nothing if the shock was mounted to sit in the semi compressed position like the bike shock is designed to be. if it was mounted fully extended it could yank it apart if it went the other direction like on acceleration. Bikes dont have much force pulling on that shock only pushing. Is that what you thought it would do? He said put them on the front and the back of the motor both part way compressed and it would work in theory. he has helped me pull and install motors, and built bikes and prototype frames for years it sounds right to me.

a long time ago the car company Moog Suspension used a shock absorber to replace the front strut dog bone style mounts on fwd cars it took some of the harshness out of having such a solid mount from the engine to the frame after the other mounts were somewhat worn.

i dont know if that helps you at all. i bet the one in the picture vibrates like hell. but I would have bought one anyways if they were for sale when i didnt have a welder.

I had a solid front bracket made of my traction bars. Works good. When I get my new traction bars I am going to do the same thing.

this is intersting, im also curious to how much that vibrated, and how much difference did you notice, i assume alot with a solid one like that.

I don't drive it much so it doesn't bother me.

I notice a big difference because my motor use to rock a lot and my fuel line was beating on my strut tower.
