Default For ALL who have the "HESITATION" Problem

So I have been trying to figure out WHY I have this hesitation problem on my H22. Well I was researching and might have come up with a solution.

I went outside and just unplugged my EGR...knowing I would throw a code. When I took it for a test drive I did infact throw a CEL BUT the hesitation was not there!!!

So basically what I am asking is to everyone that has had or has hesitation, try to take your car for a drive with the EGR unplugged. This is assuming that all timing and vaccums have been checked.

Let me know how it goes...

I have the hessitation problem. After we first cleaned out the EGR it was running good and then the light came back so we came to conclusion that it was my intake ports being clogged, but never got around to fixing them. Then a couple weeks later it started hesitating so I imagine it is from the EGR getting clogged back up as well as the intake ports. But then again I'm no mechanic, LoL.

with a 5th gen you cant block off the EGR because its OBD2...but with the 4th gens you should be able to block it off and just leave it plugged up so the ECU thinks its functioning normally.

So say I were to unplug it and it goes away. then what should I do since I can't block it off? Sorry if I am missing somethin here. Just trying to figure this out! Thanks.

you are 100% correct...with the 5th gen its going to throw a code no matter what you do...or at least that is what I am getting from my research.

Ok whitbb2 I just went out in the cold and disconnected the clip/sensor on my EGR drove around for about 5mins and it's still there. LoL. Looks like I may want to check out the knock sensor or maybe my manifold ports.

I agree but I already disconnected it and still had the problem. So obviously I will continue to have it because that probably isn't the problem. But I do agree why they put EGR's on is beyond me.

Oh its not beyond me at all, they serve a perfectly good purpose for people who want a car with good gas mileage, they don't really do a whole lot for emissions which they claim to do.

just a basic tune up? i have replaces spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, checked timing 2 times...none helped.

i unplugged the EGR and its running fine...the real test is tomorrow during the trip to work...usually theres hesitation and a rough start...we shall see...

there are some cels that have nothing to do with limp mode...Code 12 doesnt put the car into limp mode.
