B20 VTEC need advice on selecting cams, manifold, t/b
Hey what's up. I'm getting going on my build right now and I'd like a bit of advice from the experienced peoples. Here's what I currently have to work with, I'll follow the list with some questions and you can pick it apart and give some advice!
B20Z block, stock crank/rods
ARP rod bolts, main studs, head studs
GSR oil & water pumps
RS Machines 84mm pistons 11.8 c/r
Fidanza flywheel
GSR head, no porting just cleaned up the runners
BC valvesprings
JG 296/300VT cams (somewhere between Crower Stage 1 & 2)
JG gears
Skunk2 original manifold
I'd like to know what size t/b I should use. I want to get one of the AEBS ones but don't know if I should do the 65mm or the 68mm. I don't know that the manifold I have can be opened up to 68mm, it would only leave about 1mm between the t/b opening & the IACV port. How large of a t/b can the S2 Pro manifold accept? With stock sleeves/rods what is the max RPM I should stay under for reliability? I wanted to take advantage of the compression and use some BC4's, but if the B20 can't take that without alot more prep work and/or other supporting parts I might have to pass and stay with the milder profiles. Can someone tell me what RPM the BC4 likes to peak out at?
Thanks in advance for your ideas. Keep in mind though that this is a shoestring budget so I can't just throw costly parts at it or have lots of machine work done.
