Default -----Wife/family friendly coil over/spring setup?-----

We just picked up a VBP Fit Sport and I'd like to drop it on a full coil over or just a spring, but retain a nice ride quality. I don't want anything extreme, just an inch or inch and a half lower for aesthetic appeal. This is the family car so comfort is important. Any thoughts, ideas, etc?

Coilover system that I know of for the USDM GD3 are
T1R - pretty low on the highest setting base on the other thread
Megan - havn't heard much about
Tein Basic - we all know about Tein Basic's reputation being a harsh ride for the street

I think King motorsport will modify the Mugen coilover to fit the USDM Fit but I havn't heard anything officially on their site or from fitfreak. You'll probably have to call them. Mugen doesn't go very low I believe.

There is a differece in weight(rougly 200lbs) between USDM and JDM Fit so I would think twice before installing JDM suspension on your Fit since the result may very.

I'm also getting some T1R s-coils even though my fit hasn't arrived yet.

i had T1R coilovers and it looked good but the ride isn't family friendly. my wife is 4 months pregnant and she hated it. I spent over 10 hours trying to adjust it but made it worse. I even had a local shop work on them and they took 2 1/2 hours. It's designed to be more of an aggressive set up. Nothing wrong with them. Just not family friendly.

I have Cusco Comp S now. That's a jdm set. the holes for the knuckles have to be modified from 17mm to 19mm which is what usdm fits are. The ride is definitely better.

Soon Cusco, Tein, Progress and others are coming about with usdm coilovers. right now you have T1R, Megan, Ksport, D2, Nex available.

as far as springs, the T1R have good ride reviews. Spoons too.

I think the best thing for you to do would be to look into a progressive spring setup. It'll give you a nice ride around town while not being too harsh. But when you step on it and really push the springs, you'll notice the ride stiffen up immensely.

The great thing about slight drop progressive springs is that you'll be able to stick with your stock struts.

give Ben @ Aj-Racing a call. They have the t1r springs in stock 99% of the time. See what he can do for ya. They also sell spoon springs.

Looking good! Do you have any pics of your car with these springs on OEM wheels?

Swift Springs are the ones the Spoon cars run on their coilovers. HIGH quality stuff that not a lot of people really seem to use/know about. The drop isn't as aggressive as some of the other springs on the market but the progressive spring rates will be family friendly.

tie up the front hub w a bungee or something. if you let it drop, the axle will pop off. took me hours to figure how to get it back in.

I'm also intersted in the "family-friendly" set up. I want to sit a little lower than stock but still want the ride quality....

Still debating on going Salvage title Fit from a auction or going to the dealer and haggling them with the price
