I still don't believe it. I was looking for an MR2 Spyder because there was no way in hell I could afford an S2000....but BAM! got a deal so good this weekend that it was almost stupid not to buy it.
So yeah...2002 S2000.
Now my main concern is that I'm not driving it with full confidence. First time rear-wheel drive car, kind of twitchy in the corners....you know how it is.
So, does anybody have any suggestions how I could get a feel for it around Virginia Beach? Any empty parking lots, autocrosses, race tracks anywhwere near? Or do I have to drive across the country and throw down $3k for a driving school?
What did you guys do to learn the limits of this thing?

I mean...it looks just like an S2000. Great condition. Nothing special or different. But I'll try to post some.
Being in VA beach, you're pretty much limited to autox. VIR doesn't allow you to run unless you have an SCCA approved roll bar/cage. So you'd have to come all the way up north to Summit Point in West Va, to be able to run at FATT.

3k for a driving school? vir requires a bar, but summit point does not. do a google, i'd imagine it's about 3-4 hours for you. run with nasa and the cost is ~300 a weekend. you could also just autocross locally; look for porsche clubs, bmw clubs, scca groups, etc in your area.
RWD is different.. you get all your braking done in a straight line before entering the turn, then you want to lightly apply throttle (its all about being smooth and not upsetting the suspension) through the turn until you can apply full throttle as you exit. to go faster the general idea is to brake later and gas earlier
take it easy though no need to get risky until you know how to control the car. if you get in a situation and panic and not know what to do, it could end up in a bad result.
glad you chose the s2k over the mr2 .. world of difference!

Yeah, I already had the thing almost sideways once. Definately want to learn how to control it.
So basically, during the corner ONLY use gas to maintain speed, correct?
What happens when you reach the limit while doing this? Will it snap-oversteer, or is it possible to catch it before it happens?

I thought I had a deal, I got a 2000 with 80k miles for 13k.
How many miles are on yours?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I got really hooked up. A friend is a dealer and he got it as a trade in. Another friend convinced him to simply give it to me for 0 profit. They understood that if anyone would appreciate this car, it would be me.
So I get a phone call that christmas came early...and I went from planning to get an S2000 in maybe a couple years if everything works out good, to driving one....within 20 hours.
I guess I have good friends.
80k miles on mine, too.

Good price, seems almost too low, but with your hookup it makes more sense. Personally I wouldn't be buying an 80,000 mile S2K but with a price like that its almost impossible to say no. Enjoy it!

I ran into a problem with owning the S2000.....
I've been using this picture for certain things...cell phone wallpaper, messenger avatar, etc...

Still a cool picture, but you can see how now it has become kind of oboslete....
Any suggestions for a picture of a similar nature?
