frozen antenna(for all u northerners)
its been cold as hell here in ny lately. my antenna keeps sticking and i was wondering wut a good way to help it would be. i always turn the radio off b4 i shut off the car so when i warm the car up in the am the antenna doesnt go up as soon as the car turns on. would wd40 help or hurt it? or should i just maybe grease it a lil more?
Same here, I'm up at Albany right now antenna has been frozen since that 2ft snow storm last week. I just pay it no mind, everytime I turn my car on/off I hear it clicking but whatever. The teeth on the chain are pretty rugged mine has been like that for awhile and always still works when unfrozen. A lubricant might work but again it's probaly frozen so it would have to penetrate. Maybe some of of lock de-icer stuff would be a good idea, just shoot some of that in the joints. I'm thinking about doing the S2000 antenna setup myself. My SRI <3's this cold weather though.
haha yea same here. its really warm today so this is the 1st its been unfrozen in a while. it actually went up all the way n theres no clicks anymore. i guess it caught itself up haha. i just hate that clicking sound when its stuck, im just waiting for the mast to break or the motor to get screwed

Shouldn't be too hard I already repalced the house/antenna once only my method when I reinstalled it was more "permanent." Oh well when I'm sure I can get that superglue off one of these days.
Anyway I think it's already been done on here somewhere.

mine needed some lube, i ended up replacing the mast, and putting some good quality grease in and it helped alot. water shouldn't be getting in your antenna.

im here in oregon and it froze over a few times, but anyways...i just heated up some antifreeze on my woodstove and piped a little around the top of my antenna..works like a charm, i think thats why they use boiling antifreeze on airplane wings..cause i havent had a problem since.
