clutch shudder
Ok, I've had the Fit for 9 months now and have put on 11,500 miles. From day 1 I have noticed that there tends to be a shudder in the clutch upon initial acceleration. Has anyone else experienced this?
If I slip the clutch a little more then I don't notice it. But I'm not about to burn the clutch all the time.
chime in if anyone else has had this "issue".

Any idea what is the cause?
I rear rumor somewhere that it is due to improper break-in of the clutch. I just can't buy that answer though. I'm not now to a standard shift vehicle...
I'm going to call the Honda garage in the next few days and get their advice.

I don't know the cause. I noticed it soon after I recieved my car with 11 miles on it. I didn't notice anything when I drove the car when it had 5 miles on it though. I was driving very slow though.
This doesn't happen if I accelerate very slowly. If I take off normally though I feel some hesitation. I'll have my car at the dealer on Saturday so I'll ask them to drive it and I'll get back to you.

Does it happen while you're releasing the clutch or while you're driving along pressing the accelerator? I've heard of clutch shudder happening to other cars (mainly Miatas), and those problems seem to get better as the car warms up. The problem is often worst on cool, damp mornings. Is this the case with your Fit or not?

Just as SuzukaBlueAP2 said, it happens when taking off from a dead stop. With my Fit, it doesn't go away when the car is warm.

I had this on my element on cold mornings. it never goes away on the really cold mornings, but after the clutch engages a couple of times it does go away till the next really cold morning.

It doesn't go away on ours.

Well, seems like my luck never changes...
Last night on the way home from work I decided to accelerate in 1st gear as quick as possible because there's this long stretch of empty road in the industrial park in which I work...
After doing that, the "shudder" problem has been reduced dramatically. I hope it's gone forever.
I just got back from dropping my car off at the dealer and I asked them to check it out, we'll see if they find anything.

I havent really felt much since Friday night. The honda technician didn't feel anything either.
I'm not sure if it's just slightly happening or if it's fully gone. I just know it's nothing like it was before.
Looking forward to hearing your results.

I have 400 miles on mine and I have been very slow to get off the line to avoid just what you all are describing. I took it in to the dealer today and three people drove it and said "no problem:, suggestiions were: change seat distance, get used to it, enjoy it, blah blah blah !
After reading about the "drive by wire" technology, I believe the problem lies in the software that lets the computer decide how much fuel to deliver. This will never be as precise as a mechanical connection that responds like we are used to. I guess we will have to live with new technology. But I feel like the clutch is suffering and it will not last.
I cannot smoothly pull away from a light and that is very irritating to me. I will probably have to sell it and move to another vehicle because there is no way I am going to switch to an automatic ransmission.

The drive by wire might be the reason for this shudder. I have a Jazz in Asia and it is not drive by wire. No issue on takeoff. Smooth as silk.
But then again, I have an V6 Accord 6 speed that is also drive by wire and I'm have not experience this issue.
