Which models get the black housing headlights?
pretty sure that the 97-01 did not come with black housings. you may have seen some retrofitted ones with the inside painted i've seen that a ton of times not bad lookin either.
I think the guy that does projector retrofits sometimes paints the housings to match the car, or atleast ive seen a few pics of work hes done with that done to the headlight. It looked how I would think they would have looked OEM if honda had made it so.

he probably ment the sides of the headlight are black and yes there is a difference between them...i think that would be the 97,98 - 99,00,01
if you look closely at the two you would see the diff. they aren't "black housing" per say

yup this guy is totally right
older preludes had chrome housings, newer headlights if you buy from the dealer have a dark pewter housing.
these are brand new head lights from the dealer.. the outer housing is a dark pewter compared to 97-98 prelude headlights that have silver chrome finish

Yup, there are no "black housing headlights" per say but there are two different versions of the headlights
The 1997 & 1998 models use part numbers 32549 & 32552 whereas the 1999+ models use part numbers 32550 & 32553.

after 98 they came with very dark pewter/gunmetal color as well as the honeycomb like grill. but b4 98 the headlights had more of a chrom/mirror housing. (i bought my 01 from a gay Honda dealership new and it has the pewter/gunmetal housing)
