Default head bolts h23

how much tq do you use to loosen up the head bolts on h23?

However much it takes.

You only have to worry about the order in which you loosen them, the order in which you tighten them, and how tight you tighten them when you put them back on.

Three passes. 29 on the first pass, 51 on the second, and 79 on the third pass. Make sure you do all of them opposite from each other. Like do the bottom right followed by the top left, bottom left then top right, etc.

i broke an Impact rated socket trying to get one of my head bolts off....now the bolt is stripped all to hell.

go get an 14mm impact rated socket 1/2" with a 26" breaker bar should get them loose

Whenever you're dealing with something that tight:
Use only 6 point sockets
Use half-inch drive or larger
Use as little extension as possible
Wear eye protection

Jared, go to sears and get the craftsman nut extractors, that thing will get it off.
