Default Interested in buying a 2000 prelude need advice...

When I drove the prelude, the car did not chrip in 2nd gear. Is that normal for stock base model preludes? The clutch was also hard. I have a 96 civic and when it was stock it peeled out on 2nd. The clutch was hard due to broken throw out bearing but got softer when I changed the clutch and tranny. Are these signs of an abused prelude? The car has 60k miles. Thanks.

I would do a compression test before I purchase the vehicle...also tires have alot to do with a 2nd gear chirp..

My lude is fast but I hardly ever hear a 2nd gear chirp. But civics do it no mater how underpowered they are.

Chirping gears isn't always about power.

And yes the clutch will feel different then a civic. Try driving some other ludes and compare them. And after driving 10 mins you won't notice it at all.

Ha? Why worry if the Prelude was abused in the past as it sounds like your going to be beating on it yourself. If you're trying to drive fast and you make the tires break loose then your not driving right.

Compression test does not show you the compression ratio. You want to run the test the same way on each cylinder and check that they are within 10% or each other.

I believe they should be around 180-220psi but depending on atmosphere and altitude. also how you do the test.
