Default Alternator

If i were to say upgrade to like a 130 amp alternator. To compensate for extra things on my car that are drawing current. and causing my headlights and dash lights to dim noticeably. Would i need to put new wiring in to take the extra current? Or would the stock wiring be fine?

I've heard of people putting higher output alternators in but never heard of anyone upgrading the wiring so I would say you're fine.

I upgraded my wiring... to 1/0 gauge... [huge stuff]
but Im also running an audio system... sooo it was kinda needed.

if u still notice dimming while just... chillin or listening to the radio or whatever... get ur alt checked, then upgrade ur wiring if the problem still persists and the alternator checked ok.

oh, I guess I should have been more specific or maybe I just understood. I was more referring to the wiring running to/from the alternator.

haha, heres the defenition from a site.

Definition: the "Big Three" upgrade means improving the current capacity of three cables: 1) alternator positive to battery positive, 2) battery negative to chassis, and 3) engine ground to chassis. Some people replace the factory wiring; others add additional cables to the factory wiring. This instruction is to add cables to existing OEM wiring.
