Default 89 accord traction bar (just getting infor on design)

planning on building a traction bar setup for my 89 honda accord. the setup wolud be pretty much like an ef setup. i am making the thread just so i can show arron weir my pics/progress. all other income is welcome. the bar i build will pretty much be like the version2 of his bar. i am building this bar to free up space for my downpipe, and also to serve as a new mounting position for my civic dual core radiator.

this is pretty much my stock setup. the tortion bars bolt to the control arm just like on a ef.

i thought i was going to be able to use the stock tow hook plated but they just arent big enough so ill get materials to make them 1.5" longer (space to weld in main bar )

top to bottom is 6". this makes it stick down quite low as you can see the bottom heel of the plates in this pic:

my plates are 1/2" thick as well, i'm not sure how strong the stock tow hooks would be, but i'm sure if your welds are good they should be fine since they are rated to pull the whole weight of the car!

the main reason i made the plates so long was to accomodate the half rad which is about 3" taller than the ef rad... even so, i also had to modify the bottom of my rad to clear the tie rod mount on the passenger side because it was going to interfere with the tie rod location... you can see where i cut the original mounting cone off and added a taller one to run to the bottom of the traction bar.

if you look closely at the pic of my bar you posted you will notice the rad support on the passenger side of the bar is on the bottom and the rad support on the driver's side is on the top.

yeah, i did notice that but i dident reall think anything of it.

since my engine bay is so tight to begin with, i had to eliminate the top part of the radiator support, the hood latch assembly, basically everything in the middle. trhere where some perfect tabs behing the headlight assemblys to mount hood pins. just gotta get some better measurements for hood clearences with the new radiator

thanks for the info
