Default my first BMW manifold

i have to make a second one, it will be much more simple though. i've built a fixture for the second one as well so the turbo position will be identical.

The manifold looks sweet, can't wait to see it on those E30's with the Holsets

That collector looks like it would be a total sob. Is there any calculating involved in it or it is a cut a little, nope, cut a little more, nope, cut some more type deal?

yeah randy, it was cut a little, mark it, cut a little more, grind, test, grind some more, grind smooth, wire wheel, tack weld, on to the next one, cut, grind, test fit, break the tack welds then cut and grind for the next one to fit in...

this was the most time consuming part of this manifold. the second one will be much more simplified!

here is the bottom of the collector:

and here is the fixture for the second one:

Very very nice. I need to show this to a friend of mine. He turbo'd his E30 using an 524td manifold.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the mani on the car yet, those will be coming after the motor is rebuilt.

Took HTs advice and went for a real manifold... This is my first post here, but I've been checking this forum for the past few months. Lets just say I went from feeling pretty good about my shinny new manifold to feeling like a douche for buying a P.O.S. in my short time here.

Glad I learned my lesson the easy way...

Can't wait for these to meet in the bay.

Thanks Aaron

Did you weld it fully intact or break off individual runners and weld them. If you broke them off and welded them I assume you made a fixture to keep them from moving much?...pic?

i think this turbo might be a tad on the big side.

complete with wg.

i made the fixture somewhat modular so i can re-use the plate for the turbo flange on different fixtures and the wg mock-block. it acutally has holes in the bottom side that can be used to do dump tubes. i' have to tack a peice of pipe on the back side of the block to mock as the diaghram enclosure.
