UPDATE 2/21!!!!
Turns out the motor had a blown piston with a hole completely through it, and the head was completely done! Sold to me supposedly in perfect running condition. I don't think I could have blow a piston and a head with just cranking the motor. It has not started once nor have I even driven it and INCH!
He's willing to fix it, If I like what I hear I might take that option, but more than likely I'll get my money back, what do you guys think?
UPDATE 2/19!!!!
Ok guys here's the rundown:
I have a 98 civic cx, The harness I'm using is an obd2 96-98 ex , the motor is a 01' JDM ITR, and I'm also using an MSD blaster coil. I get spark, I get fuel but it still wont start! I've read the Thread by jdmlyfestyle like 20 times and have found the clip in my hatch, it's actually blue by the ECU. I turn the key to the on position and no check engine light, I short out the clip and the check engine light stays on, I just don't get it! I'm running out of ideas here, I've done swaps before and I mean I've had problems, but atleast they started and went from there! The starter and the alternator work, I can hear the car almost starting up at times but never gets there. I do have some extra clips, but everything on the motor has atleat been clipped in. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Pulled the plugs to do a compression test and this is what I found in Cylinder # 1, which I think is the cause of most of my problems! I don't understand how this could have been a running motor prior to me buying it! Anyone know how this could happen?
ON TO THE PICS!
The way they all looked!

The Bad one, Damn!!!

No, Nearly stock JDM ITR bought from a guy that bought it from Inline4. They did all the work, I have reciepts for it... It has TODA cam gears and Timing belt. I just got the motor, that came out of a running car according to the seller.
i mean if the head has had work done to it.. or been rebuilt or not the original one that came on the motor...maybe you need to adjust the valves on the head..with the head on the motor....
have you checked your compression?---check battery also.. and grounds--

I've checked everything and I'll do it again, I've used an optima red top to start it and still nothing, what grounds should I look for? alternator, starter...
Trending Topics
make sure the motor is grounded properly..I would double check all the wiring again..make sure everything is tight...
I just went through this on my motor...but my problem was the valves needed to be adjusted..mymotor would crank but not start..I had no compression cause valves were open..

make sure your ecu plugs are good and tight, and theres a green plug by the ecu make sure that is plugged in that held me up for a few days, and then check the fuses in the fuse box in hte engine bay, and the harness is plugged in on the driver side firewall right?
Are you saying when you turn the key on, you get no CEL period, not even for the self diagnostic?
And then when you jump it, it just stays on? The sounds like a bad ECU or connection to me man. Have you tried another one?

I've checked all the fuses twice, and I'll check all the connections again!

I tried my stock cx chip and it finally gave me a code, code 14, which is IACV, which I've had before, but it should keep the car from starting up. I'll be getting the stock type-r ECU tomorrow and we'll see how that goes!

No, I checked the clip and It clipped right up, the previous owner had the same dizzy and was used in an eg hatch, is there a difference between a OE stock ITR clip and a 96-98 ex clip?

Really? Not questioning your intelligence or anything buy why, I thought that that would be where I'm getting my main spark from, I'll try it and get back to ya!
Edit: tried it and still nothing!

Hey guys, is there a differnce between the broken TPS sensor that I had on the ITR and the one I had on the JDM b16a? I used my old one and was wondering if it make a difference...
I can't speak for certain, but I have pulled one off of an old single I had laying in the shop and threw it in a Turbo H22 before and it worked fine so I "think" TPS's are universal.
ok well i had you the same problem. i think it could be the main relay, very common problem. if you turn the key to the "run" position you should hear the fuel pump prime. if not and theres no spark it is probably the main relay... let me know what you find out. good luck

I switched out my starter and It's not the starter! There's fuel, there's spark, the motor is not dry there's water, oil, coolant. Might just be a bad motor, I'm going to pick up a compression tester right now and see what's up with that!
