what size of tire should i get for 16x7 40 offset
On your '97 Civic, you can use 205/45-16 or 215/45-16.
The only Falken tire worth buying is the Azenis RT-615 - supersticky but fast wearing. If that's the tire you're getting, it comes in 215/45-16 but not 205/45-16.

thanks for the feedback. if not falken tires then what kinda of tires that will last. just for street and maybe here and there drag racing plus something that will be good in the rain.

Both of these tires are worth considering. Both offer very good dry traction, excellent traction in the rain, and reasonably long treadlife. Both come in 205/45-16 for your car. The Goodyear F1 GS-D3 has better performance than the SPT, both wet and dry, but it costs twice as much ($133 vs $65). If you're not looking for every last bit of performance, the SPT is really all you need.
Both of these tires are summer tires, not suitable for snow. I assume either it doesn't snow where you live, or else you have another set of tires for winter. (If I'm wrong about that, let me know.)

yea it snows where i live but i dont drive my car during the winter time. just getting ready for spring and looking to get a set of rims red drag dr2 or rota gt3 just want to get an idea of what kinda tires i should run. but thanks for the help and info.
The goodyears are better then the SPT but for the bang for the buck the SPT is the king! You can't compare any tires for best bang for the buck. If I had money I would go with the goodyears for the street and rt-615 for autocrossing.

For the money, you just can't beat the BFG G-Force Sport or Dunlop Direzza DZ101. I'd get 205/45/16, if I were you.

WRONG. The g-Force Sport is CRAP, and neither one of these tires is as good as the Kumho SPT. Both are more expensive than the SPT, too. For the money, you just can't beat the SPT, but it's easy to beat those other two tires - with the SPT.
