It would be interesting to get different perspectives on this car before this gets locked. This is actually a cool find.
IMO, that's a mighty hefty sum (cough: almost a newish E46 M3: cough), but I know there are Spoon junkies out there that may find the allure worth the hefty price tag.

I love the way the car looks, I love Spoon's products... But screw that, haha.

I actually posted a reply to that thread:
Spoon always starts off their race cars with a brand new car, so $48K is not too bad at all.
But just a word of advice for those who might be interested, if it were prepped for SuperTaikyu, it would be no where close to being streetable. Also, importing it into the US as a racing vehicle would not allow you to legally drive it on the street either. So as the title says, it is a RACE car and should be used as such.
So starting off with a $30K car new, it's almost impossible to prep one into a race car like that with only $18K. We are all too used to seeing race cars built from salvaged or totalled shell, but pro teams almost never do that. So with the new car's value built into the sale price, it becomes a little "shocking" for us, and not to mention that the seller needs to make a profit himself too.
IIRC, it was about $40K for the Spoon DC5R couple years ago. Brand new, never raced.

there is no way though that they are paying that much for the new s2000. iirc honda sells their chassis for race use specifically with are stripped down versions. now i don't know if that was the case with this vehicle but i would assume that they did not buy this car at a dealership

You're right, I'm 100% sure that they didn't pay MSRP for the cars. But the fact still didn't change: They sell brand new race cars and you can't duplicate one yourself at the same cost.
