Default Car Theft Hits My Home.

I just got a text from my roommate. He got carjacked in Northwest DC right in front of our best buds' apartment. Literally right outside of it. He pulled up, dude walks up and pulls out a gun and demanded the keys. Looked like a couple of kids from what my roommate said.

I feel awful for the guy (probably $10K worth of stereo equipment in the car, plus the fact that he loved the **** out of it and got a great deal), and doubly so since we always thought the ITR would get jacked.

I can't believe this ****. I hope it gets recovered with a minimum of damage, hopefully the kids were just out for a joyride. Car is a 2007 Audi A3, 2.0T DSG, dark gray w/tint. I'd say "keep an eye out," but it's probably pointless. Either it's recovered in one piece or not at all.

F thieves. I can't believe this ****.

i swear im going to put agrivated assualt to a new level if someone pulls a gun. its happend at a party and i feel sorry for the guy now because he cant use his left hand.

i like florida and utah they allow consealed weapons from 21 up just have to get the class and pay the fee crime dropped because they didnt know who was carring and who wasnt but theres always a draw to that plan.

car theifs caught should have the shifting hand cut off. or a finger or 2 to proove a point.

From what I understand, DC is pretty hard core. Sorry to hear that. It's almost pointless to own anything of value anymore.

Part of me wishes I could have been there. I am out of town visiting family, or I would have been in the car with him. Maybe if there had been two of us, they might have just kept moving.

Doesn't sound like there's much he could have done.

Damn, that sucks! **** like this is common in DC and MD. In VA, we at least have the option to defend ourselves. I hope the car was just used for a joyride and they get scared and dump it.

I have a fuel kill switch that I installed in case of car jacking, flip the switch on the way out of the car... but now I must rethink that as I might not want him to stick around.

What are the laws in VA? I carry a knife on my at all times, but maybe I should think of stepping it up a little.

I hope you guys buy hand guns under the pretext that you will never have to use it. Never buy a fire arm hoping you get to use it.

Man I always wondered what Id do if that happened to me. I think the gun is probably not even loaded... he isn't a murderer just a car thief, even if it were loaded he probably wouldn't pull the trigger haha. But you never know That sux

In all honesty.. maybe its because I live in canada, and we don't have shootings here. We have hunting accidents.. But I would just throw the car in gear and hit the gas.. What they are going to shoot you to get your car and risk going to jail for life.. I think not. Most gang bangers likley can't shoot worth **** anyway. Not many shooting ranges in the hood YO!.

Never use common sense to try a figure out what a thief would do. These guys put no value on their own lives, how do you think they value yours?

Bottom line: this sucks but car owner is safe and the car can be repalced.

He was already out of the car with the keys in his pocket.

Believe me, I've been thinking the same things - he should have run, hit the guy, something, because the gun probably wasn't loaded. But if was...

Yeah. I just can't believe that our household lost an A3 at gunpoint, while a yellow ITR sits unmolested. It almost doesn't seem fair.
