ASR subframe brace legality for solo 2.
i've searched and read through most of scca forum but i cant find which class this would place my car in. i put it on my car before i decided to get into auto x but i am not going to remove it. what class do they put this in. anyone know?
I ran my comptech rear kit in STS a few years ago. I am in DSP now, dont know if the rules have changed, but i quote the SCCA 2003 rules for street touring"Any swaybar is permitted. Bushing material, method of attatchment and locating points are unrestricted." I assume that means your cool for street prepared or any higher class. I suggest stay in STS if your running street tires.
The bar may serve no other purpose which is not explicitly permitted
elsewhere herein.
theres a thread somewhere that explains why the ASR brace is not legal in most classes except PREPARED
something about being dual purpose, also using both swya bar mounting holes and lower tie bar holes.. i fergot though
but i dont htink it matters haha

The only place the ASR bar/brace has been deemed illegal is on the internet. IMO, it does put you in a grey area of rules interpretation, but I feel you'd be able to successfully survive a protest. On a regional level, I wouldn't even worry about it.

Didn't the people who actually write the rules say it was illegal unless you cut it in half though?
In any case, don't worry about it. Everyone seems to be running a "run it until I get protested" strategy. I've even heard of regions having a gentlemens agreement to not protest them.

Just wondering. Last year i notice that the 240sx 1989 with SR20 swap was in prepare and also a corolla 1986 with AE111 engine(20valve) was in prepare also. I kinda of want to compete with them both this year.

No, swaps are not allowed. Unless for example you have a DC2 Integra LS. You can swap a GSR/Type R COMPLETE drivetrain into it because acura offered these drivetrains from the factory in this chassis car. You cant swap motors/trans into cars that were not originally offered with those drivetrains. If you do you will be in a modified class.

A person involved with the rules process gave his unofficial opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
