Default light weight wheels?

Does anyone have a rough idea what kind of time u could expect to shave off your quarter mile by swapping out stock prelude 15" sawblades for some light weight konig racing wheels, probably 17's. (if any) If anyone has tried a before and after run on any racing wheels I'd just like to hear.

17" konig wheels are not what you want if you are looking for something lightweight

the 92-93 wheel weight is about 22.5lbs
and the 94-96 weight is about 17lbs

but to answer your question it's not going to be any noticeable difference on any street wheel in your price range

spend the extra money on a quality tire to help with your 60ft times, it will be more noticeable

but if you are already set on 17's for the look then just don't worry about it

Did I read 'SawBlades' ? From a 4th gen SE model ? I'll buy them off of you, if you're selling. But as far as the weight comparisons ... I don't have a clue, just want the sawblades. PMed</TD></TR></TABLE>

you obiviously "don't have a clue" about much of anything

"sawblades" does not refer to the SE model, it refers to the wheels from the 94-96 models

and next time just pm instead of uping your post count

17s won't do crap. Get some lightweight 15s (9 lbs or so) and you may go a little faster

Trying to clear up the myth here, but the 92/93 7 spoke SI rim only weighs 18.5lbs. I know because I took my old ones and weighed them. Anyway, I've got some 16.5lb 15" rims for sale if you're interested. Click my Cardomain for pics

Get some 15'' Weld Racing Draglite Wheels. I weighed mine at 13lbs!!! Oh and you might want to put some M&H 23x8.5x15 slicks on them like I did My best 60' last season was 1.950, 1.8's this season, and a 13.9!

I will never understand why so many people don't pay enough attention to tires.
You'll see people with long lists of mods but rolling on some crappy tires.
A good tire is probably the single most effective mod, but also most overlooked too.

Because they are fools that like to list mods on a web forum? Besides some nice DOT race compounds are about $800 a set. DUDE that's like a spoon billet oil cap, some gangsta colored silicone hoses and a new amp!

People have no real desire to race Preludes.

Prelude racers are a rare breed. My friend didn't think I could hit a 14.4 w/my 5th gen let alone a 14.3. I won't stop until I hit a 13.9. Determination,Perseverance, and Passion. These qualities are essential to any serious racer. We've all been in our cars at the strip in 100+ degree weather. We stick it out, cause it's our passion, it's our love.

I remember practicing my launches on the backroads, behind best buy, etc. If I did it wrong, I was like "okay let's do it again." "Again" "Again". I hear people talking about "oh i need an LSD, I need a turbo, etc) I ran a 14.3 on All Season Tires, w/an open diff, and hit a 2.072 60'. Don't be afraid to work hard people, nothing comes easy. But when all your hard work pays off, it's a thing of beauty.

Yea, true that man! However, launching on the street did help me to feel the traction of my car.
So i think that definitely helped me out at the track.

b/c people want bling! and they figure tires is a way to cheap out. I don't know if Id spend 800 on a set, but if I raced regularly, then probably so, b/c its worth it. But I easily spend 400 on tires now...
