When i try to bleed my coolant nothing comes out of the bleed screw. Does this mean that my brand new thermostat is not opening up? btw, yes my car has been over heating and as a temp solution i've been having my heater on full blast and my rad fan jumpe on all the time.

 

when your car is fully warmed up. with your hands grab the upper hose with the other hand grab the bottom hose. if one is hot and one is cold. that means its most likley a thermostat. or your leaking it somewhere. if your leaking it that would not let presure build up. if it dont build presure it wont open the thermostat

 

make sure you're not bleeding pressure from your rad cap too

the lower rad hose isn't hot but i thought that maybe was due to it being right in front of the fan thats always jumped on. I replaced the thermo not very long ago. There is no leaks anywhere, either.

 

well u may be hving a problem with your water pump. it might not be pumping correctly. or a blown head gasket would do the same thing. make sure u dont see no signs of oil in your coolant. or smoke when wide open at high rpm

 

i wouldn't be too quick to judge it to be a blownheadgakset or the waterpump. for all its worth it could be just vapor lock, take the bleeder screw completely out, sometimes they just get clogged up man.

 

i bet you its a ground.
same thing happened to me.
check the ground right in frount of the battery.
clean it.

I'm not sure how a ground would affect the coolant flow.... I am willing to bet that either your radiator has a block in it since its flowing through the top hose, your water pump is bad, or your headgasket is blown...

max, coolant flows top down in our car right? I mean through the block, out the upper rad hose, through the rad, then back into the thermo, and then the water pipe feeds the pump, right?

I'm in a rush right now or I'd look it up.

 

I always just take the bottom hose off. But good luck finding your problem. Hope its something easy.
