Default 92 Accord has a hard time starting some mornings

When it is below freezing the radiator fan sounds terrible like its scratching against something like its ice perhaps and after a few seconds it will stop and sound normal

need a little more detail than that, first off, is the radiator fan on before the car gets warm?

2nd question, have you visually looked at the fan and felt the radiator for vibrations when it's making this noise?

and how is this affecting your title message?

It doesn't actually have hard time starting really, it just sounds terrible for a few seconds. There is not enough time to open the hood and see what is causing the noise, because after a few seconds it will run normally. I don't know if it is on or not I just, but now that I think about it its probably not the radiator fan. But something makes a very loud screeching/grinding noise at start up when it is very cold.

inspect your power steering belt and your accessories belt, look in a chiltons/haynes manual and see how it explains to check for wear, chunks missing, if you feel any oil on a belt it's considered bad, also check the tension on your belts.

All of this info can be found in the manuals I listed, if you don't have one go buy it, it'll help in many future troubleshooting problems.

hm your power steering suggestion creates suspicions for me.... altough this has only happened once... I was turning and the car squeeled but it never happened again.

Check the power steering fluid too.

Have someone start the engine for you while you try to pinpoint the location of the noise.

The radiator fan should not be running when you first start the engine.

x2 the fan shouldnt start until after the temp gauge starts to rise. A fan blowing on a cold engine has no purpose. Later
