Reality Check
After you read this, if you feel the need to flame me, then by all means do it. I know what I did was wrong, and have learned a VALUABLE lesson from it.
Anyways, here goes.
This morning I was driving to work; there was a black s2000 ahead of me (exhaust and lowered). Well I figured I would have a little fun with him if he was going to get off on the off ramp to get on to I-95. The off ramp is not your typical off ramp...it is about 1/2 a mile...in the shape of an S with banked corners. Well he pulls off on to the ramp, I downshift, he downshifts, and we start going through the first corner (banked right)...he is about 1/2 a car length in front of me...I was gaining on him b/c I downshifted before he did...well we get out of the corner doing about 65 - 70 mph and his back end wiggles, and he starts to lose control of the car. It comes back to the left, he tries to correct it and spins out of control on the right, the driver side door of his car hits a light pole straight on, takes out of the light pole (it was about a 20 - 25 foot light pole)...at this point im saying "OH ****"...I passed him up and slammed on brakes on the side of the road...I thought for sure he was dead. I run about 40 yards up to his car praying for the best...screamin at the top of my lungs asking if they were all right. As I am running up he is trying to open the door, which was up against a tree, to get out. He didn't have a scratch on his body, thank god. I called 911 and stayed there with him until he told me to leave (he didnt want the cops to know we was racing).
I am still a little shook up from seeing that (being hungover doesnt help). I am glad he came out fine, I feel bad for his car. Sometimes it takes a something like this to learn a lesson...I need to keep my lead foot and racers mentality in check. I'm just glad everyone was ok.

I dont see any reason to flame... I was suprised to read that you stopped and helped the guy
I had an EXTREMLEY similar situation happen to me a few months back. Basically coming up a pretty hardcore set of switchbacks with my buddy in his S2k (trying to
) follow me... I take one corner really hard and nail it just after the apex and shoot out of the corner damn fast(mad vtechki), I look in my rearview mirror and see the s2k coming around almost completley sideways. It straightens out but he overcorrected and it spun the other way, throwing him right into a cliff face . Seemed like it was in slow motion as the car went through a ditch and all 4 wheels were completley off the ground and the front end smashed against the rockwall.
RWD cars are extremley dangerous unless the person behind the wheel knows what they're doing ,,, that being said

Alot of S2k owners have never driven a RWD car other than the S2k. Correcting in a FWD car is a world of difference from correcting in a RWD car. They aren't like any other Honda you've ever driven. I grew up RWD and made the switch about 6-8 years ago, weird at first.
Glad everyone is ok. I was a little worried when I started reading the post that something really bad had happened. I think you guys both handled everything well, could have been alot worse.

Yeah, I had the same impression that you were going to keep going and not stop to help.
True about RWD, you need to learn to control it. Hope your buddy was okay Tre.
Back to OP. I hope you have learned the dangers of street racing. You may be in control, but it only takes inexperienced/bad driver to mess everything up.

Wow, that's crazy... Glad to hear everyone was OK, and I'm sure his insurance will take care of him if he suffered any trauma.
But yes, street racing is dumb, and I'm sure he learned more of a lesson than you did.

yeah thats totally messed up...
I also thought that you were just going to drive by. Your lucky you didnt stick around after he told you to split or you'd be getting dinged with some dangerous driving charges for sure...

you guys really thought he was just gonna past by? he should be shot and dead if he did. i didn't think he was at least. just be happy that everyone didnt get hurt and that corners are dangerous. and racing where there is traffic is just dumb. but good thing that you learned your lesson and keeping everyone else from harm.
OP, that's some seriously good karma points for you, even if you did help him along into the situation. Glad to hear you and him came out of it better than what could have happened.

I honestly think most people in that situation would leave the scene of an accident if they felt guilty about it and didn't directly cause it. I know I wouldn't, and I know a few of you on here wouldn't, but think of the average jacka** out there...

Not everyone is as willing to help. When I flipped my car last year on my way to work I know people saw and no one stopped. Not even my co worker in the car next to me who saw the whole thing happen and knew it was me and he just kept on driving. Yeah hes a real douche.
To the OP
for helping out. Did the guy say anything to you afterwards about you instigating it or anything, i know if it were me I would feel real guilty.

Its sad but true. When I rolled my M3 a year ago TWO of my "friends" drove right past the accident and didnt bother stopping. Havent talked to those fucksticks since.

Damn the S2k driver is really lucky, especially getting nailed on the drivers side losing control at 65ish mph...Points for Honda safety ratings
. Glad everyone is alive and able to take some valuable experience from this.

Yea, PROP's to honda's safety. I will probably get my digital camera and take a few stills and some video of the crash area. I'll post them up tomorrow.
If any of you guys who frequent other Honda forums read about a s2000 accident in Jacksonville, FL will you pass me on the information? I would like to touch base with him and make sure things worked out. I forgot to get his # before I left.

sounds like good reliable honda safety heh. Yeah though I agree with everyone else, he was taking a RWD car to the extremes in corners and wasnt prepared for the corrections he was going to have to make. Not totally your fault he could have just as easily not accepted the taunt and just drove on normally.
Good thing you stopped to help. Mad props for that. You're also lucky he told you to leave and so is he as you and him would probably have ended up in jail. Not to mention if you had kept driving and he got your plates and decided to report you to the police, you would have been hit with leaving the scene of an accident that you contributed to.....which I believe is considered a Felony.
But the worst is over and you are both okay so that's always good to hear.
Maybe he'll get an FG2 next time around!
