ok i've got a stock ap1 (2001) and my buddy has a saturn ion redline (2006) w/ intake and exhaust and for a while, we've been sort of "taunting" each other about who's car is faster or at least faster in the 1/4 mile... the thing is though, there isn't an open qtr mile track anywhere near where we are and seeing as we've both gotten in trouble with cops lately, we're definately not going to take it to the street so i came on here to ask who's car would actually be faster... obviously, the driver is a big part of it but apart from that aspect, who's car would it be?

stock 2001 s2k

or

'06 ion redline (s/c'd from factory)
as of now, 215 whp 5-spd

i'm certain my car is faster but we've been debating for quite a while so he's got me wondering a little...

EHHH idunno...those redlines run 14s stock. I'd say with an intake and exhaust.....you're looking to be pretty much even or the S2K still wins by a bit. The redline has a wider powerband, but it still has GM gearing, and only 215hp from the factory. So you figure, with the intake and exhaust, youre looking around 230-240hp max. The redline weighs more, im pretty sure.

None of these things would affect the car's performance positively; in fact, he will be slower than **** if he has all that. Except for the "underglow neons". They make cars fly.

 

is it a full exhaust or just a ractive tip? how much torque? with the s/c the saturn would have to beat you off the line because its not going to have a better top end pull...plus more efficient power transfer on the rear wheel platform. not to mention the difference in weight.
