r 205 s vs 215 - Should I take a good deal on 205 40 16 Azenis
Assuming that new Azenis goes for around $375 shipped, I have an oppertunity to
get a set of 205 40 16 Azenis for a very low price (almost new, 95% tread).
I was thinking about going for a bit more wider tires 215 45R16 for my heavy GSR ( 2600 lbs with Koni + GC etc) but this is something I didn't want to let go!!!!!!!
Consiering Auto-x performance for a GSR, is there a big difference between 205's and 215's on a 16x7 wheels
thanks

I'm using 205/40-16 RT-615 Azenis on my 00 GSR for auto-x. I honestly can't feel any less total traction compared to the previous 205/50-15s I had, but they do have much stiffer sidewalls. However, I also went from a 15x6.5 to a 16x7, and have no idea if the 215/45-16 would be faster.
Without data logging and back to backtesting, I doubt you'll get a definative answer as to which is faster. Wider is better, but lighter weight and a smaller total diameter can't be bad things either.

The 215/45/16 is a better tire for an Integra than the 205/40/16. Look at the specs on Falken's site. The hit you take in gearing is far made up by the treadwidth you gain.
The 205/40/16 works fine on lighter cars, such as a Miata, 4th/5th gen Civic, etc...but for a 2500lb Integra you need the extra width. And don't run them on anything less than a 7" wheel.
The 205/40/16 will also throw off your speedo in a huge way, and I assume this is not an autox only car so this will be an issue.

205/40-16 is the best 16" size for CRXs and older Civics, but it is MUCH smaller than the stock tire size on your GS-R (by one inch in diameter, or 4.2 percent, which is quite a bit). It will throw off your speedometer and odometer (make them read higher) by the same percentage.
I would stick with either 215/45-16 (which is 0.7 percent larger in diameter than stock), or 205/50-15 if you still have your stock wheels, but it's up to you. (205/50-15 is 1.6 percent smaller than stock, but this size Azenis is known for being larger than other tires labeled with that size.)

I am planning to put the 16's on 16x7 wheels.
Brand new 16" Azenis, the 205's are around $375 shipped. 215's are around $420 shipped.
In this deal, I will be getting 3 16x7 Miata wheels and 4 205 40 16 tires for around $350

Then it sounds like you'll have the weight the money savings to the detriments of the smaller size.
I only use mine for autocross, and wouldn't drive on the street with such incorrectly sized tires. Though, I am using one as a spare on the back currently, since its much closer in total diameter than my donut spare is.

Thanks for all the inputs....Anyway, I am just planning to try it out!!!!
Atleast. I will have some excuse for my slow auto-x times
