depends on the set up but I would say on a stock car you loose any gain

I've got a straight pipe w/ 5zigen fireball. Will i lose ALL the gain if i have the silencer in?

I was under the impression that the silencer creates more back pressure.

I was under the impression that the silencer creates more back pressure.
That is exactly what a silencer does. Having a silencer on holds the rev point for a slightly longer period if anything.

I've never installed the silencer on my N1 catback. I've heard a little better midrange with silencer. IMO, silencer defeats the purpose of the exhaust system. Without it nice top end.

I have the Apexi WS. With the silencer in i could feel it choking the motor down. The hole in the silencer is smaller than the stock exhaust. I took it back out and left it.

I can feel a little difference when I have the silencer in my Tanabe Racing Medalion as opposed to when I don't have it in. I think you lose a little bit of power but what does that matter, you shouldn't be racing on the streets anyway

I have a tanabe RM as well and when I have the silencer on, the motor is slightly sluggish, I suppose it's because of the back pressure.
