Anyone have trouble with RM retainers fitting their SL springs?

My head is at the local engine shop now having my new Rocket Motorsport SL springs and retainers installed as well as some other work. The shop called me today and said that the retainers fit the inner SL spring perfectly but was about .010" to large to fit the outer SL spring. They said my stock (00 B16a2) retainers fit the SL springs perfectly, inner and outer. Anyone else experience anything similar to this?
The bag with the SL springs in it had a gold sticker saying what they fit but the bag with the retainers had no marking on it at all, does that sound right? Springs and retainers are new and not used but was purchased from a fellow HT member (not a RM dealer). Just trying to verify that they aren't from another manufacturer, any help appreciated
I was told not to use stock retainers with these springs, anyone want to comment as to why that is?

i dont know about that? i have Gen1 springs and retainers for an H22, and they are supposed to be snap fit. the retainer doesnt just sit on the springs until you put the keepers in, it snaps all together into one piece. i dont know, you oculd have gotten the wrong bag i guess? you didnt check them out yourself?

No I didn't check them out myself since everything was new and sealed in the bags, I just assumed they'd all fit together. I knew that they should snap into the springs but aparently they don't although my stock retainers fit nicely.

Bump for any info from the guys who know...
1) Someone must have a set of RM retainers new in the bag that can confirm if the bag has any markings on it or not...
2) Anyone ever heard of retainers not fitting the springs and being out like .010" ?
3) Any reason why I can't use stock retainers with these springs?

You need to put them in a spring tester and pop them on. It is real tight. I repeat. real tight.
Tip: Tilt the retainer slightly so that half of it is engaged in the retainer and the spring tester or arbor will do the rest. You cannot do this by your bare hands.
My own machine shop had the same problem until I showed them the trick.

i have a set of rm vavletrain. It has a RM sl light label in gold.
the retianers fit really tight. better then being loose and moving around.
stock retainers are heavy. might as well change them.
by the way has anyone broken steel retainers..?? and how.??
