new header, muffler and tanabe muffler. i dont feel the power
i have a 2000 gsr and i just installed some header from some place called hi-tech with a 2'25 in piping and a tanabe stock looking muffler but i still have the stock
catalytic converter, so i've been steping on it but i dont feel any horsepower increase, can it be cuz i still have the stock catalytic converter? or is it that the obd2 ecu wount recognize the change? cuz i raced my friend also with a gsr but his is obd1, same mods intake, exhaust, header and clutch set, i raced him on the freeway oh and by the way the headers i got are soposed to be better that his, his are from ebay. so he took me out by a car from 1st to 3td but after i got into 4th there was no movement actually after i would start catching up he would let go of the gas, but in the last race i took off on 2nd and he took off in 3rd and then he smoked me really bad, so should i get a test pipe or a high flow cat? thanks guy's

Those mods aren't going to be any kind of noticible increase in hp.
If you want a good header that you can feel improvement from, you are going to be looking to spend $700-$1400 brand new. For that you are in the market for SPSM, RMF, Hytech, Whitfield, etc. Check the all motor forum for info on these headers. Also if could just be that your friend is a better driver than you are.

tuning tuning tuning your never going to feel anything if your motor isnt tuned for it. its like hooking **** up to your computer and expecting it to work you got install software to make your stuff work with your compter. yes thoes are little mods that dont do much but theyll do a whole lot more after your engine is tuned.

you sound like a typical ricer. it's ok, we were all there at some point.
by hi-tech do you mean hytech? anyway, with bolt on's be happy if you get 5whp.

im guess it's the production header as you probably didnt spend $1300 on a header without internals first. that exhaust piping is really bottlenecking the system. step up to 2.5'' all the way back.
well yeah i'll sale them... wait im gonna go to the dealer and get my car checked as far as my valves being adjusted so i'll let you know. hitech headers dont have a sticker or anything on them right?
IMO those I,H,E is a big waste of money.. they dont do ****.. invest in a set of used stage1 camshafts for like 3 hundred bucks. no valvetrain upgrade required. you'll smoke ur boy for sure

I always hear this and it's starting to aggrivate me.
Here is a comparison of 2 time slips for my 94 GSR (these were run w/a blown headgasket BTW)
Stock save for a crappy SR ebay intake/crappier generic clogged filter
15.7 @ 88.2 mph
2.476 60'
10.25 @ 72.0 1/8 mile
I bolted on a JDM ITR header, no cat,open/exh, same intake/filter
15.5 @ 91.6
2.492 60'
10.125 @ 71.93 1/8 mile
I picked up 3.4 MPH.. and MPH is an indicator of HP. To pick up over 3 mph, I had to have picked up more than 5 horses. You can argue and moan all you want, but the MPH doesn't lie. And, BTW, the 15.8 time was run at night and the 15.5 was run during a 90 degree day.
And for an even better comparison.. Look at these 2 vids. The first one is stock, as I first ran on the track and the second was shot right after the track..tell me there's not a difference in how fast the RPM climbs (and please, no reference to the crappy shifting, I wasn't racing anybody and I didnt care to shift fast)
Stock

ITR header/no cat

my .02 for whats its worth

you should feel some noticeable difference in the way it drives. i've got a gsr in my civic and apexi WSII muffler 2.25 piping, stock exhaust mani and an aem intake. when i had the stock gsr intake i noticed the engine tried harder in the higher rpm than it does with the aem intake. as far as exhaust goes well i got an exhaust cuz before i had the WS the engine was bolted on to the stock civic exhaust.
a test pipe would be nice but yeah you have to get it tuned.. but the test pipe is gonna be loud as ****. i have greddy headers and a high flow on mine with stock exhuast and i can feel the little power it puts out.

Testpipe, or straight pipe is the same thing, both delete the cat,
So you're better off with a highflow or just the stock cat,
you seriously won't gain anything noticeable from removing it.

yeah man i just put a intake in my gsr the another day man i could hear and feel and difference not to much but probably like 3-5 horse gain. Pretty happy its a start haha.
well yeah i doo have pic's of the headers... i guess i cant feel the differrence cuz my car is always accting weird and you can't say its my driving, cuz my friend drove my car abd it was the same sh*t you know? i probably need to adjust my valves or get some after market one and some camshafts. but thank alot guys.
