I know the only engine to come with a blue VC stock was the f20B(at least I believe so) but is there any other way to tell? looks like a regular h22 with an ugly *** VC

Haha, what the hell is the point of the wire on the motor mount bolt going to the timing cover? Haha.

Looks like a normal H22 to me. No way to tell really unless you ckeck the internals out.

I wonder if the engine was built, so the engine builder put the owner's name on the block (on the stamp, rather than with a marker) to keep it straight? Or maybe it's the engine builder's name.

Otherwise that's the gayest thing someone could do to their engine.

The distributor appears to be internal coil.

If so, at least the distributor is off of a JDM H/F series motor.

But then again, It's got the M2S4 Prelude Si (H23A1) transmission.

Mayby it's a H23?

Mayby it was built for boost, once boosted running the H23 transmission, and now it's no longer boosted.

Ckack it upen and check wherything out man. Easiest thing to do is to check the cam specs. probabally.

Or not worry about it as long as it runs.

That's not a stock Valve cover and the H23A VTEC engine had a Blue Valve Cover stock.

^^Correct

Looks like you have some disassembling to do to figure it out.. Check out the stamps on the Cly. Head. Might come to a conclusion with those.. Also, what Tensioner does it have? Auto or Manuel? Might help..

Well whether it has the auto or manual tensioner, that wouldn't officially prove that it was a H23/H22.

The motor has obviously been modified, and anyone who has any since of modifying a prelude knows that the H23 tensioner is the way to go if they have to replace the tensioner. So even if it did have the H23 tensioner, that wouldn't officially prove it. If it's got the auto tensioner, chances are that it's some kind of H22.

Again, no way to tell unless you look at the internals.

Oh and.. That looks like a custom number under the name..

Fermin
00127</TD></TR></TABLE>

But if you look, at least to me, there's a " 1 " like mark to the side of the name.. Is that a mark/cut like an H22A1 or H23A1 motor? Or am I seeing things??

its a stock H22...whoever the hell that guy is you can see he grinded H22 off and stamped his nombre and that number in (look how clean that area is)...

looks like this engine is in a civic...did you buy this car with it swapped in?

^^Yeah, didn't mean it was going to be a definite answer, just a possible hint.. As I dout someone would put the Auto onto an H23, so.. If it is Auto, it would probably be an H22.

And I agree on opening it up to see the internals.. Just could remove the Cly. Head and see if it's open or closed deck also.. Because that's a easy way to find out..

Interesting though..

^^It's not... The Letters aren't painted with OEM either..

Also, if you notice, OEM Valve Covers have that gritty look and feel to them, and normally when someone gets a Valve Cover painted it is not longer gritty, but smooth.

No no... H23 Bottom end, and H22 Cly. Head..

Yep yep! Sorry didn't mean to sound like you were wrong..
I'm not sure exactly what the F20B and the H23A VTEC Valve Covers look like and I'm not sure if they'll fit on an H22 either..

Ah yes, I didn't even think about the DCSport Header... But would another F-Series DCSport Header fit on the F20B though?
Yeah, the H23 VTEC is powdercoated the same way I believe, but I don't know if the wording/placement of the wording is any different. Also the Valve Cover Cap.. I know USDM H23A1's are on the right side instead of the left.. (Depending on your viewing pleasure/angle..)

But being gay for not reading something is kinda harsh isn't it?? No reason to bash yourself..
