Default Si wheels. Tire question.

I have an eg hatch with si wheels. Right now it has 195 55 15's on it, but I'm looking for a tire that isn't as big. My car is real low and they rub when I turn. I don't know if I'm looking for more of a low profile tire, or something thats just smaller than whatever tires came on the wheels, from honda(like I said, it's time for new tires)? I also don't know if it's actually a different size tire I need, or a different model? I'm looking for a decent all season tire that will fit lower on my wheels/in my wheel well that is in the $70-$100 per tire range. Any suggestions are welcome.

195/50/15 is as low profile as you'll want to go. keep in mind it'll throw your speedometer off, but you won't see any major adverse effects.

i run avid H4 tires... they have pretty soft sidewalls, but the tread is very good and the rubber long lasting. can't complain for commuting to and from the track.

You chose the wrong size tire. The proper 15" size tire for your '92-95 Civic is 195/50-15, not 195/55-15. With 195/50-15, nothing should rub.

Here are some all-season tires in the 195/50-15 size that are okay (and they're even priced below your target price range):

Toyo Proxes 4, $51 at onlinetires.com
Falken Ziex ZE-512, $45 at Vulcan
Kumho AST, $41 at the Tire Rack

I would probably choose the Toyo over the Falken and the Falken over the Kumho, since the price differences are small. There are other all-season tires on the market better than these, but most are not available in your size, and a few others are ridiculously overpriced and not all that much better either.

Actually, 195/50-15 has almost exactly the same outer diameter as his stock size, so 195/50-15 won't throw the speedometer or odometer off at all. But his current 195/55-15 size is throwing it off (by about 3.5 percent).

I have 195/50/r15 on si rims and it throws my speedo off by like 3 mph. but regardless, i would def recommend these size tires on SI rims. its the perfect size

The size is not causing your speedometer error. If your speedo is off by 3 mph with 195/50-15, then it would also be off by 3 mph with the stock size.

Also, when your speedo is off, it's off by a certain percentage, so the number of mph varies based on what speed you're talking about.

There are a lot of variables that affect speedometer accuracy. Even differences in tread depth account for variations of up to 2 percent.

you ar 100% correct, I just meant when i'm cruzing at 50mph its off by 3. but if i'm gong 20mph i'm off by less, and etc. yeah i;m getting new rims anyway.. but they are 15x7 and i'm putting 195/50/r15. dunno if thats a good idea, or should I just get the 205..?

Since you have a pre-'96 Civic, stick with 195/50-15. Most 195/50-15 tires are approved for rims 5.5-7.0 inches wide. They may look a bit stretched on 15x7 rims but you can do it.

Then fix it.

No difference.
