Default really lose shifting.

ok short shifter, replaced shifter stabilizer bushings, now the problem. shifter worked better than the day it rolled off the line...till emissions. the garage owner took my car in did the test, then parked it outside i went out after just BARELY passing..(P.S. if ur going for emissions, put about 2-3 shot glasses worth of 100%acetone in ur tank. thats wut got me through, anyways) now the shifter is really lose..goes into gear fine...but moves ALOT in nuetral, and way too much when in gear, any ideas? moves as in i can shake it.

Well the alternative name for this bushing is the whole shift linkage.

The bushing is circled in red, the whole shift linkage (#14) needs to be replaced and that's the part number I provided.

ok so if thats for the linkage, how much just for the bushings?? are just the bushings replaceable instead of the whole linkage?? that explains why mine is the same way as sohc_mnstr...

i have this same problem riht now and its cuz the previous owner rigged my linkage up with a screw and not the bitch pin. the screw is smaller than the size of the hole so i gots lots of play in my shifter. the pin may have fallen out on yours?

ok thanks for telling me that lol. i havent done much with hondas yet, just a tranny swap that the tranny failed on me, and a mpfi swap. so the linkage piece as a whole is 35 bucks, that isnt to bad of a deal. but im sure someone has a good one that they no longer need because they went to a b series....ill have to hunt for one then. thanks.

instead of creating another thread..how about i extend my issues in this one. when driving in any gear including nuetral i hear and feel a knocking underneath my clutch pedal. the sound goes away when i apply brakes. it only goes away when accelerating and braking. i was using the highway to get home and the car was shaking at highspeeds. my mechanic mentioned i need new axles soon, and my driver side axle popped out recently. could this knocking be a result of a bad axle?

When my shifter was super loose I just rechecked everything and found that some things were kinda loose, tightend them up and it was perfect.

But this was also after buying brand new shift linkage and a new short shifter...

paid $110 or $120 for my shift linkage. Got mine off of Passwordjdm.com
