Default Lubing E-brake cable

91 CRX DX
I am not able to purchase a new cable for a bit. my parking brake lever goes down but the cable will not release in cold weather. I have to wait for the cable to move back over 15-30min. This is becoming more than a nuisance, and I cant always avoid using the pbrake.

Is it possible to relube the cable in place?,
will this help?

are you sure its the cable that is sticking? If you do need to lube it use a graphite fluid not a petroleum one.

Also take your drums off and make sure everything is moving freely back there.

Thanks for the pointers.
Keep em coming

This issue only shows in cold weather (below 30f ).

I was going to service the r brakes this month anyway.
Is it possible the brakes have worn more than I expected and is causing the p brake to stick?

I have no problem with the rears when using the pedal.

but the car wont move after waiting close to an hour today.
I have had it sitting with the brake released the whole time and it is definitely still held in place by the rear wheels.
Any quick fixes so I can get to work?

If the rear shoes are clinching the drum how will I get the drum off the look at the brakes?

self adjuster in back should move pads in, not sure if you have one, usually a hole in back that u can turn the self adjuster

Is it possible to have jammed the rear brakes by trying to move the car before the rears had released?

They have released in much less time than it has been today.
And in colder weather.

I believe I have the access port for that, but have never found a good reference as to which way to turn the ring through the hole.

Don't use your E-brake.

turn the adjuster ring from top to bottom to loosen from the adjusting port on the backing plate. If it still doesn't work, get a big hammer, whack the drum till it moves a bit, then pry it off with one or two large flat-blade screwdrivers. The drum will come off with some work.
