20's on a 6th gen Accord?
Does anybody on here have (or have seen) a 98-02 Accord with 20" rims? I know Ive seen them with 18" and 19" and lowered quite a bit but never seen one with 20's yet. I'm thinking if I got like a 7.5" wide rim and used a small tire (something like a 35 series or smaller) I think it would work, even be able to be lowered some. But the fact I havent seen it done before makes me wonder why people arent doing it. So will 20's fit on a 6th gen Accord and not rub? If so, can it be lowered at all??
*I know alot of you arent in to big rims and stuff but this is not a car I care about going fast in, its a automatic anyway.
This will strictly be my summertime daily driver so I really just want to make it look better. And in my opinion in making it look better is to stuff the biggest rims I can under it, and hopefully lower it some too.

I saw a couple guys in my area with 20s. I know that one of them has rubbing problems, because I heard it when he was making a turn. Don't know about the other guy.
You may want to check cardomain. I actually thought about this for a little bit and found some on there. Although the majority were not lowered. I think if you could actually find some tasteful 20s, and have it lowered, it could look good. Good luck.

yeah, his name is kbanks45, has some pictures in the Accord Picture Thread. And like philadd said, he has a 7th Gen.

I have 17's and I'm constantly worried about flatting my tire or bending a wheel on a decent pothole or whatnot.
18's would be the best IMO, and that's from reading and looking at pictures over several years. 18's are very nice looking but have decent tread so you aren't vibrating on everything and you might save your wheel if something bad happens. Of course performance wise 16-17 is the best choice, and i'm very happy with my 17's because I have 50 profile tires and it has good handling with enough rubber that I won't have too much damage when something goes wrong.

dude, if you buy 19" rims, and walk up to them with a measuring tape, they will be 20" across cuz the 19" is from the bead of the tires
ur gonna blow a assload of money of like 15 profile tires, if you can find them for 20"'s
if i were you, id get 19"s, lower it, but get some 255/30/19's theyre 10" wide so theyll be beefy theyre the biggest u are supposed to fit on those kind of rims, most all of which are 8" wide

Not sure what kinda 19x8 rims you are talking about, but I know truck guys put 275mm tires on a 15x8 rim, no problem. I think you'd have more issues of the sidewalls of the tire rubbing the fender with a 255 than you would of running the risk of tire failure on the rim.
20s look tacky man. Go with some 16s or 17s if you're gonna do any rims, but its your car and your call

Why would he need 15 profile tire for a 20" rim? A 225/30/20 is only a touch larger in diameter over stock and would be in the range for the width rim he stated earlier.
I'm not real sure but I would figure with a drop, large rims and a 255 tire, you're gonna have rubbing issues. Maybe if you're able to find a rim with the perfect offset that puts that tire in the wheel well in just the right position, but I would still question it.

I just came across this on Ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem
You should contact that guy, see what exactly offset those rims are. It says he's lowered like 2" with the dubs, I think it looks good. The paint is questionable, but going strictly on the rims and stance that **** looks dope!! I say go for it!

Not a whole lot of his post did... including recommending 255's. People have rubbing issues with 235's on occasion, and quite frequently with 245's. I highly doubt you could ever avoid rubbing issues with 255's AND a drop.

They can do it because the tires they use have HUGE sidewalls that help make up for the difference. You'd have some serious problems trying to pinch a 275/30 tire onto an 8 inch wide rim.

aww hell, so thats why the reccomended tire size when putting 19"s on the 6th gen (according to tirerack.com) is the 215/35/19, the only problem is that the wheels i was going to get from my cuz were 8"wide and the rim used to stick out from the tire when they were on her accord, offering no rim protection, so i did some math and figured that the 255/30's were the only other tires that would be wider and still stay within 3% of oem circumfrence of the tires
but theyll rub so nvm
ohh and the part about the measuring tape... whaterver size wheels you buy, say 15"s, the 15" is measured just for the part behind the lip, where the tire mounts... so they have to add a 1/2" lip at the end of the part where the beat seats so that the tire doens just slip off, so.. when you measure 15" wheels already mounted on cars with a measuring tape, its gonna be 16"
so 19"s are 20" across when you look at them...

ok, your rim measurement still doesn't make sence. I get what your saying but why in the world would you refer to rim sizes like that. sounds like your just saying that to make it sound like you have a large rim than you really do. a 15" rim is a 15" rim, I don't care what the lip diameter is, it's still a 15" rim, it'll never be a 16" rim.
yeah but if ur friends are dumber than you theyll believe it lol
and naa i refer to my 15's as 15's cuz they ARE 15's, if the OP feels like having 20"s he could get 19"s and consider them as 20"s cuz they SORT OF but not reallys ARE 20" i guess
lol i dunno, wheels are wheels, get some like my background pic on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/paulwallfromthat361 and feel free to scheck out my ride and videos of it, any ricer stuff on there, is on there just for a laugh haha

My head hurts so bad. It sounds like an LD kid read a geometry book, thought he understood it and just started spouting off random crap.
bead wall circumfrence radius by pii 20" wheel sidewall gap isosceles hypotenuse radial 19" dubz . . . son
Don't do it man. Just don't do it.
