Default trans question for noob install

I have done a lot of stuff BUT one thing I never done before was take a trans and install it on new motor, So i got the new clutch kit and installed it correctly with watchful eye of a better knower friend. I installed the new throw out bearing on the spline on trans and its a CABLE driven trans. I then in best word, put the trans onto the engine and secured it onto the engine. After installing both engine and trans, I went to hook up the CABLE for the clutch pedal and the lever where the cable goes to, it didnt budge. Like i tryed to pull up on it and it didnt move at all. IS this normal? Or do I need to do something extra to get that lever to move?? Like I said, NOOB here as far as trans swap to new engine, so if you understand what I'm talking about, please let me know what I can do to sove or if I'm just forgetting a step. Thanks

That is very normal! Just remember you leg is a lot stronger then your hand and the cluth pedal acts as a lever to minimize the pressure of the clutch. Just loosen the adjustment screw up a lot and it should slip in the throw out bearing lever. Then tighten the nut until slack is minimal and then adjust from there. Good Luck!

well what i was doing was I was installing the clutch pedal wire, the damn cable that when you depress the clutch pedal, it pulls up the lever (i just wanted to explain that for future responces) and I figured that there should be some play on the lever so I could connect the clutch cable by hand b/c I swear that when I took the cable off, I pulled up on that lever and was easily able to take that cable off. This time its not moving at all. So thats normal??

i had a similar experience installing a new clutch....it was a bitch to move the lever afterwards. that was with a stiffer pressure plate though. trust your instincts

Ummm, I would trust my instincts better if I had done it before. I mean that lever doesn't move at all. I pulled up hard on it, it is a stock new clutch kit, nothing special. shouldn't it move up just a little bit even when I put a lot of force from my arm on it????

You would not be able to pull it up, that is the nature of levers and forces.
