Get a nice roar
so i am pretty sure from reading archived forums that a cai will not increase hp....however if all i want is a nice roar (especially when vtec engages) which brand should i look for? or should i go with short ram? keep in mind i live in florida and it rains a lot...so i dont want to hydrolock

yeah, lots of things do. If you want a nice roar you can even do it without purchasing things. Adjusting the stock intake can generate some noise, I just don't know how to do it cause all of my mods in my car are going towards performance or looks.

usually a header will give the exhaust a more rapsy noise, well, that's what my old 4 to 1 header was doing.

you can get the imfamous intake noise by removing the air box lid.
on some car you get a tiny gain but on some car(s2k) you get heat soaked to hell and lose low end

CAI will help a little, just because you don't see a peak gain it doesn't mean it's a pos. you feel more torque/low/mid end then peak end for daily driving(well, regular daily driving)
just get a short ram, there's no smog in FL as far as i know so just get a ebay unit and a k&N/AEM filter

if you don't care about emission, show, e-manhood and warranty then no
95% the same(the real different is the wall thickiness, coating, rolled beams, silicone connector, filter), but i dont know it's worth it or not going for aem if you don't need to pass emission/intake ticket

well i have a trusted friend who swears by the fact that if you have a cold air intake and DRIVE NORMALLY it does increase mgp (he said he actually tested it) because that air flow to the engine is better. he did say when you gun it....you use more gas...but also get slightly better response.
can anyone verify or PROVE this wrong?

your friend is right, it will increase mpg if the vehicle is driven normaly.
i proved this too myself (i hacked the air box and bought a k&n drop it)
also if you want a nice roar, dont replace your rear wheel bearings when they start to go bad... drive on em for 5 months or so, ull have a nice loud roar...

the sound your discribing is the sound you get from a K&N universal cone filter on your stock piping just pop the airbox out and clamp the cone on.
btw how much is an intake ticket? i didnt even know there was such thing?

is there dyno sheets to back this up? I don't know about HP, but when I put a CAI on it gave me better acceleration for sure....and no, it wasn't just the roar of the CAI making it seem faster.

Easy batman, it's Honda-Tech. I'm pretty sure you drove by me the other day and I mistook your car for a lear jet doing a low altitude fly-by.

LOL, Batman. Haha. Well like one of the other guy said above me, instead of taking off the intake cap, what other people do is take off their resinator. It makes more sound, but for performance wise, alot of people made bad comments. It wasnt as good as they expected to be lol. I think they are some comments about this on HT or other forums. Just do a search.
