I am getting ready to order a front end conversion for my crx. Is there a difference between a jdm ef7 and a ef8 front end? Could I order some ef7 parts and some ef8 parts and they all work fine together?

yes theyre different , no they wont work fine together ....

 

so what is the difference between ef7 and ef8.
I need to know because I am getting ready to order some parts.

 

ef7 88-89 uses a bump style hood that works on usdm fronts. Also they have plastic head lights that work too.

ef8 ef7 90-91 all crx made for jdm markets had the "sir" front end, this includes 1.5x, ef7,ef8 ect. This you need the bumper, headlgihts and hood to make it owrk on your crx

 

after doing some research I think I see now..
So the ef7 just has the hump and the hood. Thats the only difference between ef7 and a ed right?

plastic one bulb headlights , corners lights , bumper i guess is different too and fenders with sidemarkers .....

Cause all crx came with the sir front in 90-91, ef8,ef7, you name it.

 

so the only difference in a ef7 and a ef8 front end is the 88-89 model ef7's. A 90-91 ef7 and ef8s front ends are the same?

yes minus the t bar, the radiator support, the zc, si, 1.5x all have a simialar chassis to the usdm crx. The ef8 nose is about 1" longer then the other chassis. That is why you have to modify your t bar (usdm) to work on this front end. The ef7 and 1.5x both came with larger tbars that accomadate the "sir" front on a usdm car perfectly.

 

so what your saying is that if i get a 90-91 ef7 front end I will not need the tbar?

No, all the 90-91 front end parts are the same. Just the ef7 tbar will allow you to bolt it up, no shimming like the usdm or ef8 tbar on a usdm chassis. Its just a bonus, no big deal, i wouldnt go pay more than 40 for it, some peole want 150, where 2 bucks worth of washers can make your usdm work fine.

 

great because the company I am ordering it from doesnt know if they have a tbar. I will just use my stock one and some washers and line it up myself. Thanks.
