Default d16y7 oil pan fit a d16y8?

Did a search but came up with yes's and no's. Can someone confirm this? I know my y8 pan is alum and the y7 is steel. TIA

it should, the blocks are the same internally, just the heads and external parts such as intake manifold, manifold, oil pan, but why would you want to put a crappy steel one in place of aluminum that never rusts?
