97 accord bushing problem
So, I tried installing my coilovers that I just got over the weekend, and when I got to the rear suspension, I nearly stripped the bolt that held the strut onto the control arm. I take it to my mechanic, and he tells me that the bolt has rusted itself onto the bushing. He said that he would have to cut the bolt, and drill out the rest of it. I was wondering how hard it would be to do that myself. He said he would try to save the bushings, but I was thinking why not just replace them?? right? so neways does anyone know how to replace bushings in this car? is it do it yourselfable? or would I have to let my mechanic do it, because i would need some kind of special machine???
Thanks Alot.

pain in the A$$ but do-able.
I use a thin cutting blade on my air grinder to cut the bolt between the yoke and control arm, try to do little or no damage to the yoke part.
Then when it is out of the way, start drilling thru the rubber until you can get a thin metal cutting blade on your airsaw through the bushing; then I cut thru the outer 'shell' of the bushing to help get it loose from the control arm hole.
Then drive it out. Drink a beer and celebrate
The threaded part of the bolt stuck in the yoke hole can be soaked with penetrating fluid and then drilled out.
I have two 'special' sockets and a long threaded rod to drive in the new bushings.

Won't happen. My wife had a 93 Accord and the same thing happened when I had to replace the struts. THe bolt is rusted to the metal sleeve in the bushing. I had to buy another bushing and replace the whole thing. It was a huge pain in the ***.Good luck with it, but you might as well plan on replacing the bushing.
