Worth the money?
Well you didn't say how much you plan to pay for this S so noone can answer your question.

Everyone here pretty much agrees that they are one of the all time great "Driver's Car"
which basically means it is really exciting and fun to drive but does not have many of the ammenities some people expect or want.

And in case you didn't understand by legible english I will do a translation for you:

Yo this **** is off da hook homie, just ****** that **** off the lot right quick dump it and put some D's on that bitch. **** would be hot..

Pretty good price for an 00 with that mileage. I would get an 02 with higher mileage though just cuz it comes with the glass rear window.
Or you can just find one with a perfect plastic window like I did.

its not a very fast car and doesnt have much potential to make gobs of power either. but like was mentioned earlier, one of the best driver's cars ever. also, all do respect, wouldnt talk too much smack on your brothers scooby, had plenty of run ins with them when i had my s2k, and not all of them went so good. and definately throw some d's on that bitch.

not exactly. in comparison to its competitors, the all motor platform doesn't have much hope for high hp. for the money it takes to modify an s2000, you can buy and build s13's and s14's with mod'd sr's, better power. good shape jza80 supras with mild mods, better power. hell, r32's, fd's, 03-04 cobras, the fr list goes on.
now i say that to say this, im not bashing the car, im a huge fan of it. but with the money it takes to squeeze 300-350whp out of one, youd be spending less on cheaper cars with more power. the idea of the s2000 was a great all around sports car. it is definately that, just nothing superior as far as power. power to weight, cornering, highway driving, pullin ladies ( ), it really ranks high for me, but if you see the pattern in the cars listed above, forced induction is what they all have on the s2k. hopefully honda's attempt with a turbo on the mdx will take a turn torwards the performance crowd and end up on a high output motor honda's known for. i mean its not like honda doesnt make potent motors, take the k series for example, now you wanna talk responsive to mods. the k20a2 head is damn near perfect from honda, no matter what mods you do to the motor. but the f20 and f22 scream for more torque stock, and with every mod, comes tid bits of top end power with little or no torque. the popular choice for itb's actually results in a substantial loss in torque. its definately a driver-oriented, purpose built car, but big horsepower and street domination wasn't its purpose.
but to sum it all up, if big horsepower and pretty much any torque is what your looking for, youll spend more than you normally would if you build an s2000.

ANY car can be a beast, all depends on the money spent

obviously the s2k isnt an evo, which gains 80whp from bolts and a tune, but ive seen s2ks making well over 500whp

also, to OP....seems like all you want to do is street race or do highway runs against other people. The s2k is not about that

STI's and evo's will make more power, handle better, brake better etc......

BUT...I've driven modded evos, sti's, wrx's, and my s2k....the S is by far the most fun......

And soon to be FI....that should add a nice little kick when you tap the throttle!

Plus convertible > non convert.

WOAH WOAH...who said that EVOs and STIs handle better than S2Ks? Are you talking about lap times? The only reason the STI and the EVOs lap so much faster is because of how much power people make with them. I took out both of the stock MRs at road america fall challenge 06 with my stock S2K. Just because an econo sedan has a strong motor and a turbo and AWD doesnt give it any more balance than it had when it was an econobox sedan. As for the STI . Good car for gravel, but they get consistently beat down by EVOs on tarmac and asphalt circuits worldwide. I've seen modded STIs in action on a road course. I wasnt that impressed. The S2000 DEFINITELY handles better...it just needs the right driver's touch. lol you just get left behind on the straightaways, thats all. Another problem with RWD is that you couldnt put down 500+ WHP effectively without doing donuts. So basically, a 500HP EVO is easily driven around turns...where as it's going to be pretty much impossible to pilot a 500 hp S2000 around a turn. But the S2000 still has better balance.

Nothing really beats the overall balance and poise of a RWD car that was supposed to be a sports car in the first place.

so to go with that, s2000's, in a sense, aren't really designed for huge numbers. it is, like we've all said, a driver's car. so without a good, alert, and quick driver, the s2000 kinda ends up looking like **** sometimes on the track. i second you on the opinion about cornering, i stated that earlier. and to those of you before me, i never even mentioned evo's or sti's. i was comparing to the fr class, my favorite btw. and if they made s2000's in coupes, thats what id go for. top downs nice, but, well, ehh. anyway...

its actually not ridiculous like most would think. i was 19-20 when i had mine with a pretty moderate record and i paid like 300/mo. well, thats probably steep to civic/integra owners. thats another perk of being sold out ff. fr cars always cost more to insure, sucks.
