NASA Racers, How much track time per event
I was looking at the schedule for the March 17 NASA Event at RD Atlanta. They are having club racing, track trials, and 4 HPDE groups on the same weekend. I am wondering how much track time do you guys get for a racing weekend.
With SCCA we typically get a practice session, a qualifying race on Sat and the race, if it is a double weekend. It is a little different on Regional weekends. With all that stuff going on how does NASA get any track time for their racers.

At most of the MWHC events here in Ohio, the weekend consists of a 20 minute practice session, 20 minute qualifying session and then a 40 minute race. This is done both days, plus some have a Friday test-n-tune that is made up of 3 or 4 20 minute session.
Typical double sprint weekend will have 2 hours and 40 minutes of track time, not including the Friday test-n-tune (if applicable).
Hope this helps!

Sam

out here in the WC we get a 20minute warm up, 20 minute qual and then a 30 minute race.
Or some times they change it up, but they try and give us the same time every weekend

You could always look at the schedule on nasa-southeast.com each nasa region is a little different, but basically the same format as far as track time per hpde time. If the schedule for RA is not up yet then look at the schedule for CMP which is this weekend, it's basically the same minus the combined race probably.
CMP schedule listed the HPDEs but it only listed the THunder and LIghtning run groups.

What is that? Do they just put all cars out on track at the same time?

Looks like they left off what classes are in each race group on that schedule. It will be something like this:
thunder = V8 cars, and the faster v6's and I4's. example: American Iron, Vett, Viper challenge, factory five challenge, Super Unlimited, ect..
Lighting = smaller engines, example: Honda Challenge, Spec miata, Spec Neon ect..
You will share the track with cars in different classes even though you are not racing agents them for points (bragging rights only). Normally they do several split starts (rolling starts) one after another in each run group so that your 1st several laps will be racing in your class only. By the end of the race you will start to lap or get lapped by cars in the other classes.
As for time it looks like your getting:
-Sat-
15min practice session
10min qual
30min race
-Sun-
10min practice
15min qual
60min race
Total = 140 min total on track time if you are a racer.
PS:
On Sunday they are putting all race classes in the same group for a 60min race.

the road atlanta event will likely have a 20 min practice 15 qualifier and 25-30 min race, that is the case for most nasa se weekends.
