Default Oil in the cylinder head of my accord :(

I was changing out the spark plugs on my 93 honda accord and noticed alot of oil in the chambers of plugs 1-3 when changing it (enough to drip off the boot). I know this is bad news, but does this mean the end of the car? Could it be that I might have put a little too much oil in it? It is a 93 accord with 156k on it. Starts up fine, runs fine, and I drove it for 500+ miles last week.

Relax dude, your car is fine. If you remove the valve cover and look at the underside, you'll see little round gaskets on the bottoms of the spark plug tubes. Yours are probable dried up and letting oil get on the plugs and boots. Go buy a valve cover gasket. The spark plug tube gaskets should come with it.

Problem solved for about 15 or 20 bucks. This is a very common thing with Hondas. No big deal. It won't hurt anything to keep driving it. Just take care of it soon.

Also, you have seals under the rocker arm assembly that keep the oil out. Chances are those are brittle and letting in oil. You need to remove the rocker arm assembly and check them. Pooby88 was right about the valve seals, but if you replace those and oil still leaks into the cylinder chamber then you need to remove the rocker arm assembly and replace the seals underneath.

Don't forget to also replace the valve cover seal that goes around the valve cover :-)

What happened to me:
I replaced all the seals on the valve cover and such except for the seals under the rocker arm assembly. A few days later oil in the chamber. Had to go back and redo the entire job No oil after that though should have just replaced them all at one time.

ya you mine as well replace all the gaskets while your at it.(valve cover gasket, the round gaksets in the valve cover and the gaskets under the rocker arms) chances are , they are the seals under the rocker arms, its a pain in the *** to do the job twice. Same thing happend to me and someoen told me it was just the seals under the valve cover and still oil leaked so i had to do everything else and STILL had to take the rocker arms off to replace those seals to. I mean its ur car and time though, just would be alot easier to do all the gaskets at once in one day and call it a day. good luck
