I am aware that seemingly EVERYONE on this board dislikes altezzas. I just read the Chengster post, and 90% percent of the posts say, "nice car, lose the altezzas." I am sick of reading (Ok now everyone tell me to leave the board if I don't like it. No reason for independent thought here...) about how "ricey" altezzas are. It takes from the entertainment provided by good ol' verbal brawls like cheng's and Jonas's when I have to wade through the tailight comments. I know this post forever brands me as the San Francisco treat, but it is really unentertaining to read the same line everytime I look at a post that hints at the existence of altezzas.

I know now that my username will be forever synonymous with Uncle Ben, but I am so sick of reading this "rice" nonsense I had to say something.

Ok, everyone tell me how wrong I am, and how if I don't like it I should not come back to Honda-tech.

 

You're right most people on this board are against altezza, i am one of those people. Some altezza are worse then others and the ones that guy had are some of the ugliest sets i've seen. This whole site are jsut forums to share information and opinions. Just as you respect peoples knowlege you should respect their opinions as well. If you post your car on here asking for opinions and it ends up getting bashed but you like the way your car looks why do you care? It comes down to some people are trying to impress others while some are out to impress them and enjoy what they are doing without all the DRAMA. You're not going to please everyone so why worry about it.

I'm not going to tell you what you already know. I have no place to tell anyone what to do, where to go, etc. I don't have a problem with you being here. But the general consenus on HT is that "we" don't like "Alteeza" or "Euro-clear" tail lights. Simply put, you are the minority in this enviroment. You can't walk into anyplace that you are the minority and expect things to be the way you want them to be. In an odd way, I somewhat respect your stand, but you fall short on the grounds you are standing on. Find something better to defend than your tail lights.

 

I dont like them because I dont think they flow with any car, except maybe an altezza. I also think that they are played out. I dont look at a car and say "OOOO **** dog that is tiiite look at all those jdm goodies" and I also dont go up to one and say "dayum yO!!! that car is so rice with those altezzas and neon" To me it either looks good, or bad there is no third or fouth direction. I am personally tired of the whole "rice" and "jdm" thing if it looks good then cool but if its not my taste I am not going to say that its "rice" or something like that. And in my oppinion altezzas are nasty and they look especially horrible on a hatchback.

 

Let me clarify. I do not have altezzas. I have OEM Honda 99-00 tails on my 97 hatch. I just get tired of reading about how terrible they are. Anyone who has looked at the forum for longer than a week can pickup on that. It gets so tedious reading essentially the same post over and over again.

It is the equivalent of bashing welfare on a liberatarian forum. Everyone already knows your position, so why waste your breath?

I do, however, respect the way you answered my post. It is nice to see some rational people on this board. Keep it up you guys; Honda-tech needs more like you.

hey i have them myself, (altezzas) everyone has there own personal prefrence

 

i never once mentioned in that post that altezza's are for ricers. me and Chengster have a history of arguing on another forum board. basically he said that i'm a 'JDM *****' when i have ONE thing that is "jdm".. and he probably has more of the "jdm" look than i do.

then he dogs on me for being into jdm tail lights when i have OEM USDM 99-00 tail lights. wow.. ok.

 

Jonas, I was in no way referring to you. I know of you, I am on chb.com as well. I was referring to the widespread affliction of "anti-rice" evidenced on this board. BTW, did you get the sides and rears for your car yet? I like the bumper, but I think it would look better if you had the whole kit (minus the hood, and $2k spoiler). Anyway, chengster's post just sent me over the edge. It is the culmination of months of altezza bashing. Sorry guys, I just can't join the communal consciousness. Give my brainstem back, you can't have it.

The only cars that should be equipped with altezzas are LEXUS. and they're the only cars that look good with them. IMO

Man i bought a set of altezza's for my HB and they looked like shiet, then 3 days later it rained and my lights were filled 1/2 way up with water. I coulda used it as a fish tank. N E way, all this "rice" and "jdm" talk....I just say do what you want. Dont try to impress anyone. Pretty soon all this RICE/JDM stuff will fade away its all jsut a phase everyone goes through. But hey its just my opinion.

 

on some cars, eurostyle tail-lights look better than on other cars. (i don't like calling them "altezza" lights because altezza is a car, not a light.)...

on some cars i think they look pretty decent, but the haters who call everything rice taint the image of having euro tailights. on some cars it totally does not match. also, most of the aftermarket lights are of poor and inferior quality than stock.

 

how bout making ur car an ultimate sleeper...
a whole lot of stickers...altezzas...

nah man not during rain season.it only rained ahrd for 1 day.and sprinkled the next ....cam out one day and saw my new fish tank. but owell i got them sent bak and got new one...but im sellin it to som mEx_guy with a red HB too.

That's about how I feel. I don't think Altezza's are exactly the bain of Western Civilization or anything, I just get freakin tired of seeing them everywhere.
As far as "rice" is concerned, I understand that some people have diferent tastes in cars from my own somewhat conservative exterior styling preference, but what I would consider rice is the really tacky crap like electrical tape on headlights to form eyelids, or the Asian graphic stickers in the back windows of Neons & Cavaliers and what have you. I figure if it's your car, you should do whatever the hell you want with it, but at least try to keep it clean

Alot of people here don't like body kitrs. . .I have one.
Alot of people here don't like wheels bigger than 16's. . .mine are 17's.
Alot of people here don't like "bassing" systems. . .guess what? mIne bumps.
Alot of people here don't like any mod unless it makes you go fast. . .My door handles are shaved.

Do I care if someone else on an internet board dislikes my tastes? NO. I do my mods to my liking and no-one elses.
If someone wants to put alteeza's on there car because they like it. . .more power to them, BUT when you post a pic of your car, you will recieve everyones opinion.

That's why I have never posted a pic of my car here. I didn't do all the mods to get everyones praise, I did it becasue that's what I like.
