<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Driven &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Question:
What's the BEST engine for my Honda?

Answer:
125cc Honda dirt bike motor. It weighs under 50lbs, revs to 10000rpms, and makes 320hp/liter.

There, now that we solved the question that is constantly on everyone's mind, let's talk about pizza.

Seriously now, the best engine for your honda is WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD TO BUY!

If you have $1000, DOHC ZC.
If you have $2000, get a 1st gen b16a. It'll cost that much to get it in.
If you have $4000, get a GSR/B18C1.
If you have $5500, get a ITR/B18C5.
If you have $10K, and no use for your car for a month or two... get a K20.
Edited for the Whiners:
This is NOT a complete list, as there are mini-mes, LS-VTEC swaps, budget/poor man's ITRs, etc. Use the damn search button a bit more religiously.

What's the best engine for boost... the one that gets TUNED properly.
What's the best engine for drag racing... the one you spend the most money on making FAST.
What's the best engine for road racing... same thing.
What's the most reliable engine... the one you MAINTAIN religiously.
What's the cheapest engine... the one that's in your car.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

If you name a 4 cylinder that Honda has mass produced in the last 17 years, there's a mount kit for it.
B-Series = Multitude of manufacturers, personal fan of Hasport myself
D-Series = Stock Mounts
H-Series = A few manufacturers
K-Series = Hasport

Sky's the limit bud.

For a first swap a dohc zc swap is very easy and cheap. You can use stock mounts, tranny, axels etc. You will have to do a dpfi to mpfi wiring conversion or send your harness to rywire, hasport or there is a lot of guys on here(Honda-Tech) that are willing to do it affordably! Good Luck with the swap!

Transmission Options
- Keep the 4-Speed, domestics had 4 speeds so it must be good? Or not, only use the 4 if you can't find any other transmissions.
- DX transmission, hell it's a 5 Speed and it shares the same gear ratios as the SI. Only difference is the F/D and you can re-use your stock axles.
- SI transmission, this thing makes the world go round.
- ZC transmission, some people like it, some people don't. You do get the benefit of equal length axles with this setup, but this obviously requires you to source a new set of axles. I've provided a link to one for sale up in Leesburg, so it's not that far from you.

The ZC swap with the Si tranny is a very popular setup. There are hundreds of guys on here that has done this swap. As for the ecu, the best one to go with is the one that came with the motor. You could get by with just a Si ecu. I see that your pretty new to HT so the best thing to do is spend days on looking at this.

You would never believe the help that can be found in the FAQ section. Second best method is the Search in the upper right hand corner. This site has been up for years and pretty much EVERYTHING has been went over. I hope that I was helpful and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Oh and welcome to HT

With the SI transmission you can retain your stock axles. Before someone contradicts me, the only difference between the Std axles and the others is the spline size that connects to the knuckle, the differential is the same. So as long as you have your stock knuckles (brakes) you'll be using the axles you have right now. If you go SOHC ZC, a PM6 will run perfect as the SOHC ZC is the foreign twin of the D16A6. If you get a DOHC ZC, these are your options:

ECU options- 1) PM7 (JDM / EDM ECU) - This was the original ECU for the imported DOHC ZC. It has a speed limiter set at 112 MPH, though. How often do you hit those types of speeds, though.
2) PG7 ('89 Integra) - This is a great ECU for this engine. Some will say that it tends to make the engine run a little bit rich. Make sure you get the ECU from a 5 speed.
3) PM6 ('90-91 CRX Si) - This era of CRX ECUs have more aggressive fuel and timing curves than that of the previous years. These ECUs should be cheap and easy to find

I personally would try and find a PM7 because I'm a stickler like that.

im going to try and find a DOHC ZC, yes i am new to this site, one of my good friends Jesse with a 04 4door ex told me to come here and find out mroe info on the swap setup i pick. what is like a averge price give or take a few hundred to do the DOHC ZC swap with a Si trans? I'm only waiting on my income tax check to get here and then im buying the car, It is going to get torn down ASAP to begin with the swap because when i test drove it, wow is it ever slow and i beleive the clutch is slipping a little. The car has Coilovers, a weld on exhaust and i beleive 18'' chrome wheels(which will be swaped with Rota slipstreams)im not a big fan on chrome wheels. well any more info on this setup or what not would be much helpful
Thanks,
Dustin
