Engine bay noise?
I have a 94 gsr and when i have the rpm around 3000 to 3500 there is like this Aaaarrrhh noise and then it dies out when i hit 4 but it only does it at this rpm...i took it to a mechanic and he said it could be the tranny or my camshafts...i was also told that it could be the header heat shield and tried puttin pressure on it and still did it....any suggestions?
Take the heat shield off then to see if thats it, and maybe its the heat shield over the cat?
Problem is alittle vague to help find a solution. More info might be helpful.

Won't do anything but take that nasty noise away.

No, it is alright. I have always taken mine off and have had no problems. And with aftermarket headers you will not be able to keep the heatshield.
The only slight problem I had while taking off the cat heat shield is with my old DA the short shifter would get alittle warm/hot sometimes, I am guessing because it sat pretty much right on the exhaust, and the heat shield was not there to deflect heat.
However, I have the shield off on my DC and I have had no problems.

Can you show me a pic of the heat shield of the cat, cuz in my car there is nothin there...are you guys talkin about the one welded to the cat?...if not where....i gettin tired of that noise
The heat shield isn't welded to the cat. It is bolted at the four corners. Those fasteners commonly fail due to the heat cycling to which they are subjected. Have someone rev you car to make the noise and walk around it. You should be able to quickly locate the noise source.
hey i have a 98 ls and i had the same problem, it was the Exhaust pipe that was raddleing and so i put a little Exhaust clamp on it and it worked GREAT! Good luck
