Default update: completed transfer - 9h23m

well,

after punching my tranny really REALLY hard with my right fist making a very nice deep wound thru my gloves, and slicing my hands here and there on stupid heat shields and what not...oh yeah, and back pain...lots of backpain...

its done. I've installed a set of springs.... one man, first time, 9 hours, 23 minutes... the LCA's just make the rear much more fun to swap in and out ... took me 47 minutes to figure out how to put the LCA bolt back on ....

Is this a slow time?

I must say i'm very proud of myself Yes, I want a cookie

btw, H-T BBQ in 7 hours 4 minutes! see you all there...

00-0187 - hopes he torqued everything correctly

e-beers on me

on a side note, when i lowered my car back off the jackstands i had put them on, while unloading the jack on the front mount right next to the radiator... about 12 inchs from the floor i hear a loud "BOING" and my car drops to the floor.

damned cheap *** craftman SUV jack... going to go get my warranty on it

and even with the 1.5" inch additional drop, the crapsman jack still clears!

I have that same SUV jack. No problems with mine. Most people don't know this, but you have to "break in" your jack before you use it. Crazy. And your time, well, uhh, hey, it's done. haha. Cheers.

Why did you punch the tranny?

When I read the first sentence, I thought you were doing a tranny swap. LOL.

Wow, spring install in ~7 hours. Lots of cookies for you.

i did a sring install on a friends car a while ago and it took us like 2 days. only due to the fact that the compressor broke on us at one point. very scary seeing a nut go flying past your face.

i dunno why it took so long!!! i punched the compressor and split open my knuckle... the latex gloves i was wearing didnt break, but after evaluating the pain factor and the white glove turning red on the inside...i ran into side for a bandaid

oh yes, the wrench slipped off the suspension bolt, thats why my fist went flying into the tranny

i had the right tools! I think...

i've heard from many people its easier to pull out the rears than the front...i found this to be the opposite. I think its because of the LCA's...

Nice job Tom. Your car looks good too.

Don't worry....my first time took me 11 hours over two days. Now I can do a whole spring/shock install in about 1 hour.

Helps that I have air tools though.

I've always though the fronts were easier. Keep practicing. . . I counted the other day and I have done suspension swaps on a civic or Integra a total of 30 times and can do it alone in 2 hours or a little less.

I can do a whole spring/shock install in about 1 hour.
Shamoo you can really do a swap and compress springs in an hour? I have done a swap in 45 minutes but both sets of shocks and springs were already assembled.

wow.. I think the ITR FL crews record for LONGEST spring install was just over 4 hours.. and that included much beer consumption, much laying under the car being lazy (see new thread about ITR-FL laziness ) and eating Skirt's gambino burgers..
